Hi guys,
I am trying to understand what the advantages are for using PWCC instead of listing cards directly on ebay. I checked their fees, and they seem somewhat high, so not really sure what makes people sell through them.
This being said, I am in the UK so sending cards for consigment to PWCC would probably yield higher returns as there is a more vibrant market in the US. Then again, I couldn’t find any information on their website stating that they accept consignments from international sellers.
My questions are:
Why would someone who lives in the US consign to PWCC instead of listing on ebay directly?2. Does anyone know if PWCC accepts consignments from international sellers?
Thanks in advance for your help.
They are very reputable and take care of all the hassle, they basically allow you to not care anymore at all once you´ve consigned something. A seller might have gotten bad feedback or mentioned here on efour which would not allow him to sell with such a wide appeal like pwcc has. These are, at least in my opinion, the most important points why I would consign to them.
basically what @shadowless, said. On top of that, I think that there is so much excitement and anticipation around PWCC auctions, that the best cards will always get a premium price. I’ve now seen for the last few auctions that these kinds of cards you can get somewhere else for a little cheaper or the same price at worst. PWCC also is unmatched for international buyers in terms of shipment and customs ^^, this guarants a larger pool of potentional buyers.
My biggest complaint about them is, they’re all .99 auction style and Brent doesn’t space out like items. So if I have him sell a PSA 10 Base Unl Charizard and so do you and 3 other people through them, he will list them all back to back to back and we all may get murdered on price.
Pwcc is great for the buyers but suck badly for the seller.
Basically every card on there sells. So if you have had a PSA 8 “fill in the blank” sitting on your own eBay store for a month and want it liquidated then PWCC will take care of it. People probably end up buying cards they don’t need just because of the hype. So for a seller who is looking to liquidate, this is the place. But going along with what Gary mentioned, they don’t space out cards at all. Having 7 of the same card in a row really knocks down the selling price of each item. I myself have gotten some great deals. With that being said, I think if you have a super high end card then PWCC could be a great place to potentially send it in because everyone is going to see it.
So It is definitely a buyers market but also as other have mentioned, if you haven’t built up an eBay reputation or don’t want to deal with it then send it on it.
You are better off selling in the UK market, I regularly see cards sell for premiums from UK sellers, I suspect buyers factor in VAT that they would have to pay if they purchased from outside UK/EU.
I use PWCC cuz im lazy. PWCC seems to only get higher on premium cards. What Gary said, if someone listed the same card as you, I have seen one go for $1500 and the same card/grade for $3 if too many of the same cards were sent to PWCC :/…
Yup, after reading the advice in this thread and checking their fees/prices, as a UK seller it makes sense for me to keep selling on ebay.
That being said, my company expects to relocate to a smaller country next year, which means I won’t have easy access to buyers and shipping fees and times will be higher so when that happens, PWCC will probably be worthwhile in the sense that it will allow me to tap into the international market and realise fair prices.
Just curious what type of product do you sell? I don’t remember their exact fee structure, but it makes little sense selling lower value cards(sub $200 or so) through PWCC.
I shake my head at people earning $5-20 on graded cards they could sell all day long on their own for $30-50.
Are you active on social media? That’s a quick way to liquidate less desirable product at 80% or so value.
I sell Japanese graded cards mostly and have been selling those myself on ebay as I am based in the UK, so definitely PWCC would not be for me at this point.
My company is planning on relocating next year though so, as I intend to keep paying for my personal collection by selling cards, it will likely become relevant then.
As a buyer, would you pay the same price for a card that comes all the way from Zimbabwe and takes ages to get to you? Probably not.
Also, as a seller, I would lose international exposure and the postage costs to my potential customers would increase dramatically.
The above two reasons are, in my opinion enough to make PWCC worth my while after relocation.
Regarding your comment on people making $5-$20 per card, it depends on each individual I guess. Some sellers try to squeeze every little cent from their product, whereas others set fixed profit margins and will sell as long as their margin is assured.
Because I don’t need the money that is tied up in cards, have a lot of spare time and live within walking distance of a post office, I can afford to leave stuff on ebay for months at the highest possible profit margin.
If I had a busy lifestyle though and my nearest post office was 15 miles away, I wouldn’t think twice about bundling it all up for a middleman to promote and sell for me, even if that meant making 100% instead of 200% profit.
