The Question of the Day is a way to facilitate community discussion to help members ponder the unanswered questions of the world that are somehow relating to the hobby. Questions are many times open ended and up to interpretation. Feel free to post your thoughts in as much or as little detail as you’d like.
Helpful Considerations may or may not help some people focus their answer, these are blurred to not bother those who have their own ideas.
rare trainer cares were traditionally the worst. For me though, a low point happened, I went to just open a evolving skies pack. Just one. Wasn’t expecting much. I got rainbow rare garbador vmax…For a second time. That didn’t feel good.
Also never got anything but venusaur of the big 3 in celebrations. 5 times I got him. The venusaur life chose me I suppose. What are the chances?
Emerald Break was really odd experience considering the amount I opened it: bought 10 boxes, opened 6 and the SR/UR pulls were double Wally, Winona, Thundurus EX, gold Energy Switch and probably gold VS Seeker. Had to get Shaymin, Rayquazas etc. all good stuff afterwards.
At same time it was fun experience when packs included points cards which could be exchanged for shiny Rayquaza EX promos, @japanime was the real MVP during these days handling all the orders of E4 users, big thanks again.
I opened a pack of fusion strike and paradox rift.
First pack I get a deoxys rare. Very dissapointed, hate deoxys with a burning passion.
2nd pack I get ANOTHER deoxy rare. I quickly grabbed a pencil and jammed it into the center of both cards and ripped them up. To this day I still haven’t opened those 2 sets.
I’m in a same boat with celebrations, bought something like 25-30 packs at a time and while many others were getting some great stuff i only got venusaur in addition to some garbage, then afterwards received my pikachu v-union box with four packs and hoped so much for at least something decent from classic collection only to get a duplicate luxray, that hurt a lot
Misty’s Goldeen.
When WotC put together the set list for Gym Heroes, they needed to decide how to put in the cards from the theme decks that weren’t in the Japanese booster packs. So they decided that if a card was a one off in the theme decks, they would put it in as a rare.
One version of Misty’s Goldeen was a one off.
So, I opened my first pack of Gym Heroes.
Oh no. No rare. Where’s the rare???
Only on investigating the rarity symbols in the bottom corner did I realize that I had been Goldeen’d.
It’s been 25 years. But I’m not bitter.
I’m not bitter.
