Hey guys (and girls), I am still working on my project of English card rarities and will soon arrive at the Hidden Fates set. For this, I would like to ask a question to the combined wisdom of E4, regarding the shiny Pokémon-GX, those full art trainers and item cards featured in the Shiny Vault subset (for example Hiker, Lady, Brooklet Hill,…) and the gold cards (Tapu Koko, Tapu Lele, Tapu Bulu, Tapu Fini): Is there anything in the card texture or holofoil pattern for these cards which would speak against these cards all being printed on the same sheet? I don’t collect modern English cards and from all the images I found the texture and holofoil pattern looks the same to me.
Although the textures are all pretty shallow, they do seem to differ. I collect FA Supporter cards, and if I look at my Hidden Fates - Shiny Vault SV86/SV94 Lady, the texture pattern seems to be lozenge-shaped (like diamond playing cards), whereas SV83/SV94 Fisherman are more wavy, and the texture of 67/68 Giovanni’s Exile seems to follow the card artwork (his suit; the R in the background; the Poké Ball he’s holding; etc.)
Also, although you haven’t mentioned them, the baby shiny Pokémon are defintely printed in multiple print runs, since there are two different card texture errors besides the regular print, being glossy and texture-bleed. Here all three of my Seviper side-by-side, where the left is a regular one; the middle has texture-bleed on top of the entire card; and the right one is glossy:
But maybe I misunderstood your question regarding the ‘same printing sheet’? If I did, could you give some example(-picture)s where they all looked the same to you?
Greetz,
Quuador
Thanks for the answer! What I meant is less the pattern of the texture (which often follows the artwork) but the texture itself and the pattern of the holofoil, as in the way it reflects the light. For example, the secret rares from the Sword & Shield series are kind of “glittery” and differ from the full arts. Or the full art Pokémon from the Sun & Moon series, which reflect the light in parallel lines in a way the full art Trainers and secret rares don’t. When comparing images of shiny Pokémon-GX from the Shiny Vault and the full art Trainers from the Shiny Vault, I couldn’t really notice any differences of this kind, so I was wondering if there are any which would preclude the cards coming from the same print sheet.
