Hey so I own some English PSA cards and they seem to always fit snug in the holder (they don’t move around in there)
I got my first Japanese PSA card recently (1998 bday pikachu) and I realized it doesn’t fit as snug. It shifts up or down and even a touch sideways if you tilt the psa holder. I don’t own any other Japanese cards. are japanese cards smaller by a sliver? is this always a thing? is it only promos?

they’ve changed cases a few times wich might be where the difference comes in. hard to say without seeing though XD but japanese cards should be the same size as english.

It can happen with all cards, production year or language doesn’t matter.
japanese card surface is much more glossy than english which means it’s more smooth, also reduces friction

As stephneechan already mentioned, Japanese cards are (or at least should be) identical in size to the English ones.
Cards always have the potential to slide in PSA cases. Some slide up/down, others slide left/right.
It’s been tried and tested that your card won’t get damaged though, so you needn’t worry, it’s normal.
There can be thickness differences too.
Sorry to post so late in this thread, but I’m having the same issue with a card (rather expensive one) of mine that is shifting a tad up/down and left/right. I noticed that the little brackets (name?) are thinner than other cases. I circled the area that I am referring to. This is not the same card btw.
I had the same concern a while back since I’m a heavy collector of the pre-2001 japanese promos and english WOTC. Some cards seem very snug and others can noticeably shift a little bit. It’s mostly the results of case changes and should not hurt your cards either way. I have been told that it is good to let the card “breathe” a little inside the case.
Just don’t go shaking it up and down a million times and your cards will stay minty I imagine. My favorite PSA 10 Grand Party moves up and down a little, but I’m not gonna go shake it so it’s all good.
