R.I.P. Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter died in a helicopter crash today.

Absolutely heartbreaking, gut-wrenching and unreal news.

Still can’t believe it. As a kid I remembering watching the NBA on NBC on Sunday afternoons and the Lakers were almost always on there. Gone way too soon!

In utter shock. I still can’t believe its real.

I noticed his autographs sold instantly on ebay. Apparently an investor already dropped 1M on memorabilia.

I had stuff sell before I heard the news. It’s a sad day all around.

I would have changed prices or more likely kept the cards. Everything happened so quickly.

Heartbreaking. Simply crushing.

RIP. One of the greatest ever. It’s crazy, I literally went through all my old basketball cards and sent some kobe rookies off to Ludkins last week.

One of my favorite basketball rookie cards I own.

In my room I have his shirt hanging that gave it to my brother who finished a game in nba years ago when the number was the 8. He has always been a legend to me and I loved basketball and the sport in general thanks to him. My brother know him a lot. Looking at the shirt today is terrible. Rip legend!

He once played at Martz Hall in my area (pictured below) along with other areas here. A lot of folks are certainly pretty upset here and especially in the Philly area.

Thoughts and prayers to his friends and family :slightly_frowning_face:

My favorite athlete of all time, luckily I had some signed memorabilia already. Also managed to pick up another signed basketball and signed photo before everything sold out and was listed for 10x the amount.

I saw him and his family at Disney’s Magic Kingdom a year ago. It was at that point it clicked with me just how big of a family guy he actually was. Normally I could care less about celebrity deaths, but this was an NBA player I’d known my whole life and grew up watching and collecting his cards.

I heard while just about to start a prerelease of Sword and Shield and the news was rough to take going into it. I was never a big sports fan growing up, but everyone knew Kobe. Wed say his name throwing trash into cans as kid, or sometimes my friends who were sports fans would have me watch him play when having old school sleepover and such, but overall I knew he was a well rounded guy and an amazing athlete whom will be greatly missed, as well as his daughter for she was so very young. I truly wish only the best for his family now as i cant imagine how difficult this must be. RIP

Such a legend. And a great human being. I was able to shoot around with him and a few of his buddies at a temporary Lakers facility a few years ago and to this day it’s one of my greatest moments of my life. Opening up nba packs as a kid purely just to pull any of his cards. I watched eBay soon as I heard and literally memorabilia was selling out in seconds no matter the price. Rest In Peace to a legend

I’m still in shock. He left his mark not just in the US, but all around the world. So sad that his daughter went with him too.

I was with Dbruze and his terrific girl today and a dark cloud lingered above us all.

@marco, Kobe had a strong bond with your great country. I think he spoke italian and lived there for awhile.

I didn’t realized he grew up in Italy!

He actually said how he was an awkward kid in Italy because he was so tall. When he went to play soccer they always wanted him to be the goal keeper haha

As a kid from Boston I always hated the Lakers but had too much respect for Kobe since he was essentially MJ’s star pupil. I’ve watched and played a lot of basketball in my life and been around a lot of NBA players before but Kobe was something else man. He was so charismatic and articulate in a way that I’ve never seen or heard before and is truly an inspiration to everyone that if you work hard and dedicate yourself to something, you will be successful. This is a truly sad day because we lost not only a great man/father, but his daughter is also gone. Condolences to the whole Bryant family.

Yes! He spoke italian very well. Kobe lived from 6 to 13 years in Italy when his father played here in Italy. He had many childhood friends here. A lot of people known him personally here and lived with him during the childhood… :slightly_frowning_face:

We have a tournament in my city that is dedicated to a promise of youth basketball who died years ago. He was probably his best childhood friend. Kobe known italy a lot yes and very well italian, better than some italians.

I’m normally not bothered by celebrity deaths since I hadn’t known them personally, but this one seems different. My little brother idolized Kobe and even put up an 8 foot tall poster of him on the wall of our room when we were growing up. The world has truly lost a legend.
