RARE ??? --Just Discovered My JP. Jungle Box has SHORT TOPS

Hi everyone!
So I was in the middle of filming a YouTube video just now to show the sealed boxes in my collection that I haven’t seen for 3 long years (due to a long break from the hobby),
and I went ahead and looked under the top flap of my (still) sealed Japanese Jungle Booster Box, and to my surprise it contains short top packs (also the bottom of the box does not contain the “made in Japan” wording that’s usually found underneath these boxes)

Can somebody please confirm this for me based on the short videos I will provide here down below??
Can someone also please let me know how rare the short tops are? I know they are the 1st print run, and I never see them on eBay and I’ve rarely seen any at all anywhere, but I’m still not sure just how rare they are. Is this a huge find??? :open_mouth:
Thanks so much to anyone here who can help shed light on this for me!

Sorry the thread title should say “J A P”, not “JP”, but same thing I guess

O _ O

Not the same thing, we autoreplace that on the forum because it is a racial slur.

It does look to be the short pack version best way to tell is Exeggutors leaves above the text can you post an image of the top? Normal Japanese Jungle has two leaves above the text, the short pack box just has one leaf
Normal box:

Edit: Just freeze framed your vid lol and yes yours is the short pack version congrats

Nice Discovery aronthemon !

As casual said the short top booster packs indicate an earlier print run period that took place before the design of the packs and boxes changed. However, unlike Japanese base set short packs that have a chance at no rarity cards, the short jungle booster pack are only unique in the sense that the pack is a different design (there was never no rarity jungle cards from my understanding).

The short booster packs and boxes are quite a lot rarer than regular packs. I have only seen a few packs and boxes for sale over the years and had a small quantity pass though my hands. There is a box on eBay at the moment (link below), however the photos are a little hard to confirm its claim of containing short packs. In regard to price, I would say packs are worth 4 -6 times the price of a normal pack, maybe around the $400 USD for a pack (however that is just a large guesstimate, as I have no recent sales data to go off). Would love to hear some other price guesstimates or of recent sales data.

I really appreciate your response, Casual!

Oh wow! Thanks so much for pointing that out that detail about exeggutor’s leaves being above the text. I would never have been able to notice that nuance myself!

Thank you for confirming my suspicions! I couldn’t be happier about this discovery!!! Hope you have a wonderful day, and happy collecting!

One of my dream boxes. Extremely rare. Congrats on the discovery

!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to write this all to me, totodile!!

This helps incredibly! I was a bit curious about the price, as there’s little to no resources on eBay to refer to, but I think your guesstimate is very reasonable and I suspect that $400/pack is in the right ballpark, given its rarity/scarcity. It would be absolutely amazing if the cards in the 1st print run of Jp. Jungle had a difference of some kind, but nevertheless I am extremely happy and in awe over this find! I knew that returning back to my collection after all these years would reveal some previously unknown-to-me treasures of some kind, and the experience so far has been absolutely delightful!

You have helped me out a lot here and I can’t thank you enough, I hope you have a wonderful day!

@kingboo64
Isn’t it fun when some Alola region content was spoiled almost 20 years before Sun & Moon games came out?
