Your definitely not nuts @cinnaminhbun I think around 1500 should be a fair estimate, but given the fact how sought after this particular card is, it only takes 2 people really wanting that card to easily exceed that.
Yeah I would say around $1,500-$2,000, and $2,000 is probably pushing it.
Something to keep in mind: 1st Edition Dark Magneton has 46 PSA 10 copies available. While that is certainly low, it’s not Neo Genesis Slowking/Typhlosion. It’s not Neo Discovery Yanma. It’s not Neo Revelation Blissey/Ampharos.
It’s more in line with 1st Edition Misty’s Golduck (which also has 46 PSA 10 copies), which had a $1,400 sale last month.
Sure there are 46 graded, but how many are currently on the market? That plays a big factor in price in addition to pop report. If 45 of those are in private collections to never see the light of day, then the pop doesn’t mean much.
But we can glean that it is much more likely that some Dark Magnetons will hit the market at some point than the others I mentioned because Dark Magneton’s pop is four to five times higher than the others.
We have no idea whose collections they are in. All we can go by is the data we have at hand.
My point being that if there’s only one or two on the market now and you need one today/this week, you don’t have a lot of wiggle room on price despite the pop report. I’ve never heard a valid argument made when someone tries to offer me less by using the pop report for justifying a lower price. Last I saw on eBay they were two, but prior to that there had not been a 10 on eBay for the longest time.
The only one I’ve seen for sale in a while is listed over 3k, and another a guy is wanting to only trade towards other hard to grade holos (1st ed lugia). I’ve been looking and would easily pay $1000-$1500 for one
As posted before, I can’t tell you how many I have submitted. These have terrible centering. I think of all of the one’s I submitted mint, the highest one came back an 8…
