For the first time ever checking out of ebay, the system became really weird, and I was wondering if any fellow users had the same issue I’ve had.
The item had international shipping, but GSP shipping to international gave me an “Unfortunately, we can’t process this payment. Please contact seller”.
The checkout page only gets prompted if I change the primary shipping address to domestic (USA), and then the checkout works.
Even when checking out, it required me to login and out of paypal three times, and suddenly prompted me to use 2 factor verification (sending a pin to my phone) to enable login to my paypal.
After login through 2 factor, it still blocked my payment and sent another text confirming that I want to process the payment, requesting me to confirm via text that I am indeed wanting to continue the transaction.
After all of that, the checkout finally got completed. This is the first time I had to go through so many hoops to checkout for an ebay item, the seller has like 200+ positive feedback (albeit none recently), the item is used (a pokemon game with real pictures and not stock), so I’m super confused at what’s going on.
Has happened to me before for a big item purchase as it wasn’t normal for me to send that much money at once. Had to go through many verification steps. However, it was just a paypal transaction and not through ebay. Maybe paypal is just being more cautious now to make sure it’s the actual owner of the account sending money. Personally, i’d rather have all these steps and have the extra security just in case.
It’s odd because it’s like a transaction of like 150$…and you and I both know that is not much in the realm of collectibles , but perhaps it was just a random flag that popped up. Thanks for answering!
