Hey guys was curious if anyone did this, my BGS case has dirt on the inside and outside of the inner sleeve and it’s kind of annoying, also can potentially damage the card. Anyone had any issue with the recase service? They keep the same grade? How much is it? Thanks!
Since you said, “my BGS case” you mean only one. With to and fro shipping plus recasing costs it could be very high since it’s just that one card. Can’t say how much cause it depends on whether it’s a 20.00 card or a 10,000.00 card which would affect shipping insurance. Just the recasing is cheap like 10 bucks and they will keep the same grade.
Thanks for the info Gary!
I did a few re-casing with BGS because one time the case got chipped in the corner in shipping and a couple others the label needed to be corrected. If you have ever cracked a BGS case you will know that the sleeve inside the case is sealed top and bottom and needs to cut to get the card out. Also, that sleeve is prone to have visible light scratches on the outside which sometimes drives me crazy especially when the case itself can also have light scratches lol. But I do love the card not bouncing around in the case like some PSA cards.
One thing to consider is that this entire process your card is going to be handled by someone and that can increase the chance of some damage even though your card will retain the same grade. When I got one of my re-casings back the first thing I noticed was a white speck on the edge that I don’t remember being there before. This of course could have just been me being paranoid and looking for a reason but till this day I am not 100% sure. The card in question was a 9.5 quad ++.
Yes that’s my main concern. If a human being (or chimp) did this while casing the card, they can easily damage it while re-casing. Will see what I do.
