I’m a bit new to getting cards graded, and was wondering about regrades. My first questions is, why would you have a card regarded if you think it deserves a lower grade? Secondly, is regrading the same cost as grading? And what is the process for regarding or sending back a mislabeled card? Thanks!
I have regraded a 10 that had clear corner damage. I would not want to sell that card to anyone as the card did not fit the label. I was also reimbursed under PSA guarantee. They re-graded for free and paid shipping both ways (through voucher) since it was their error. They reimbursed me the full value difference between the 10 that it was graded and the 6 that it was regraded to. Luckily it was a low value card, so they didn’t balk when I asked for like $60 or whatever it was, though I am sure with higher tier cards it would be a bit of a battle settling on market value.
Regrading in that scenario was free due to the guarantee, but otherwise if you are just sending in 9’s shooting for possible 10’s or whatever then yes the costs are the same and you submit them essentially as if you are submitting raw cards. Shoot them an email if you have a mislabeled card so they can expect it, and depending on the issue if it was your error or their error will likely depend if there will be a fee or not with that.
