I’m in the process of moving my collection over to semi rigid card holders. I’m loving the extra room for the card to stand out. But now I’m on the hunt for the ~perfect~ semi rigid card holder. So far I’ve tried VaultX and Docsmagic semi rigids (I’m located in the EU). I’m loving the clarity and quality construction of the VaultX semi rigids. They were sold out for a while so I bought other ones from Docsmagic.de. Immediately I noticed that these have a blue tint and the quality is less. I like the shape of the docsmagic ones better though.
What I’m really looking for is a semi rigid that has the non-blue crystal clarity of the VaultX semi rigids, but without a logo. I find that it distracts from the display of the card when I have these in my (semi-rigid) binder. Unfortunately it looks like all clear quality semi rigid holders will also have some kind of logo, which makes sense as they would be from a quality brand.
Does anyone have any recommendations for non-blueish clear semi rigids without a logo?
Picture below of VaultX semi rigid and Docsmagic semi rigid on a white paper. You can clearly see the blue-ish tint of the Docsmagic.de holders.
UPDATE: A card just arrived in a Beckett Shield semi rigid holder. The shape is very nice, I’m loving the more square-ish corners. The clarity is great, even less bleu-ish than the VaultX ones. They have more of a grey-ish tint.
Card Saver 1 from Cardboard Gold are probably what many to most people will say is the best overall in terms of quality. But the actual difference in quality will be marginal between brands. They are just cheap plastic holders after all.
But you are specifically looking for no logo and the right hue. The problem with no logo is… how do you find it? How do you consistently source it over time? It will be also be a Temu-teir product. You might just have to be ok with some kind of logo.
For colour, here are more. I have Ultra pro, Palm’s Off Gaming and Cardsaver 1
As PFM said the baseline are Card Saver 1s. Love them, can’t go wrong there.
I’ve used Palms Off as well as Beckett. Palms off is a bit thinner and might be better than Card Saver 1s for a binder. Beckett are the thickest ive ever found. The downside ive experienced with the Beckett semi rigid holders is they can be a bit oily when new.
Another thing to consider is the dimensions. Some companies are a bit larger or smaller and they could move around in the binder pages more. Smaller Semi Rigid holders are also a HUGE pain to get cards in and out of.
Thanks for the photo! The clarity of Palm’s Off Gaming is amazing. The Ultra-pro ones seem very similar to the VaultX ones, with a very light blue-ish tint. I understand that Card Saver 1s are the gold standard, but they seem very blue-ish.
I already looked at non-logo branded ones, but they seem difficult to find in the EU. Aliexpress only has the generic blue-ish semi rigid holders.
I stumbled upon ones from Alibaba that look like the Beckett shield ones (squari-ish with clear view), and without the logo and no white strip. Just ordered a “sample” so we’ll see how that goes.
I’ve never done this, I don’t know anyone that’s done this, but if you like the card saver type sleeves and don’t want a logo, why not just cut the top flap off? Shouldn’t have a huge impact on the function of it, and you have more control of the end result you want I’d assume.
Honestly, I love them! No blue-ish tint, no logo, clean sharp corners. Cards are snug and don’t move, but are easy to insert. The sleeves look like the Becket Shields without the white bar at the top.
I also like to put sealed promos in semi rigid sleeves. With some semi-rigids it can be difficult to get the promo all the way in so that the plastic is at the bottom of the semi-rigid. I tested this out for this semi-rigid sleeve and it is perfect! Not too tight, it slides in with a bit of pressure but not too much.
I like to see the condition at a glance, so I put tiny stickers in the corners.
On the back I add info on the purchase of the card, and any defects that I spot. This makes it easy to decide in the future if I want to grade a card.
