Shadowless set

Hey all,

Sorry if this is meant to be in the giant market thread but I just wanted to create a specific discussion around base shadowless cards.

With shadowless cards being roughly half the numbers in population on PSA compared to 1st edition is there ever going to be a time that the rarity catches up to 1st price wise?

Few pros for shadowless i see

  • Boxes are hard to identify, with the prices of sealed product being so high at the moment are people going to risk opening boxes that may or may not be shadowless.
  • No one cared or even knew about the differences of shadowless to regular unlimited when boxes were being opened regularly leading to less care being taken to preserve the cards.
  • unsubstantiated rumours that they were actually the 1st print run with the 1st edition stamp just being added after

Cons

  • No 1st edition stamp
  • outside investors will always go for 1st edition as thats the safe bet
  • Some people still don’t even know what shadowless is.

Dont get me wrong I love collecting 1st edition cards and only have a few cards left to get in a 10 to complete my set but I am having alot more fun and difficulty chasing down shadowless cards already graded or in gradable condition.

What are everyone’s thoughts around shadowless cards

My feeling is that PSA 10 shadowless base holos are criminally undervalued, if shadowless does pick up heat, there’s not many 10s at all id imagine demand will massively outweigh supply so its got rarity on its side for the 10s!! But I belive in time shadowless will find its feet and gets its due worth espcially when you consider the huge price gap in 1st edition and unlimted and such a huge demmand for base set in general, with all these facotrs considered I think there will be plenty of room inbetween for shadowless to blossom and plenty of demand via collectors. I believe shadowless will be a very attractive alternative to 1st edition for collectors it has the same artwork, its still has the layer of exclusivity by being a limted release, whereas with unlimited you dont quit get to scratch that colectors itch as much being less of a challenge to acquire.
