Miki Tanaka has been illustrating Pokemon cards since Fossil. Known for her skewed proportions and flat, bright colours, I’m sure there’s at least one of her cards you’ll recognize if not dozens. I’ll add some at the end of this post.
Well, a pretty rare opportunity has arisen where she is taking shikishi comissions via her DM in any of the links I added at the top. Do not request Pokemon drawings, basically no artist is open to doing Pokemon drawings so don’t even ask. BUT this is still an opportunity to own a really unique item at a pretty affordable price. [My latest commission is a rabbit with wings. I often get requests for imaginary creatures, so I’m challenging myself rather than saying I’m not good at them. I’m starting to enjoy it more and more. The next request is also for a popular imaginary creature.]
She charged 50000 yen (roughly $340USD today). She was super pleasant to deal with, and was very excited about the commission itself. After painting, she asked me
“I was able to draw it very cutely, so I want to show it to other people.”
And after I purchased
“I had a lot of fun drawing this time. I hope I can convey that feeling. Thank you for requesting a commission.”
I brought up that I could share this opportunity with others (ie. you reading this) and this is what she had to say:
