One of my favorite cards. Nice pickups! Don’t always assume these will increase in Value however.

The market has seen so much growth over the years, I am going to assume it will always increase in value. Unless the thesis with the company changes, or the fans start dying out, I’m pretty sure the value in any charizard will go up over time. This is however, just my opinion

These are only going up foreverrrr. Don’t feed the babiesssss!!

Why is that exactly?

Nothing in this life is guaranteed, every investment has its risks

They will grow, maybe not as goldstars or shinings, but these are going up

Here we go…move the thread…

Because they can drop in value too, I’m sure people buying at the 2017 peak didn’t expect the card to lose over half its value over the following two years.

Based on 2017 sales would you say those buying after the drop are say… LUCKY?

In seriousness if you are thinking that Pokemon will be sustaining it’s bullish market then the Skyridge Charizards are for sure a good card to pick. Last WOTC set, strong numbers in rarity and desire. Hits a lot of boxes. I agree they will go up but may see a slight pull back short term if we are currently over hyped with all these crazy spikes and urges. As people said nothing is for certain.

Those cards are looking superb!

Great card that will retain good value forever. If the card plummets that just means the entire hobby is in an awful state. Don’t see that happening anytime soon or in my lifetime lol. Congrats and enjoy.

These were one of the hardest hit cards when speculators began to undercut each other a few years back, as some already stated… Again, I love this card and own a set of 9’s as well…I just would never buy these thinking they will only increase in value.

Edit: But what do I know, I just like collecting nice looking cardboard.

No, I bought on the drop, not at the absolute bottom and I ‘lost’ value for a while there but I expected the price to surpass the previous highs once the market absorbed supply.

At that $4500 sale in 2017 there were less than 100 PSA 10s - that spike caused people to grade that shit out of them, sell out into the hype etc and supply outweighed demand for some time. if you look at the population graph we have 90 PSA 10s on Dec 2017 which is around that peak $4500 sale, fast forward a year we’re at 138 PSA 10s, almost 50 were added to the market that’s like 4 a month on top of what was already available and PWCC’s auctions reflected that.

The card was a falling knife, people that bought high lost confidence and took losses to dump it (stupid) and it had a negative stigma as a bad buy even here for a long time during this period. Now the supply has been mostly absorbed, the amount of 10s getting graded is flattening (only about 10 total PSA 10s for the year so far), the sealed product is too expensive to open and the card has risen accordingly.

That scenario obviously could have played out differently and the card never recovered, but based on the variables I didn’t think there was a high risk of that happening.

I think we are seeing that with a lot of cards now. Since Pokemon GO hype we saw the initial spike which got people grading more cards. Then the dump of new PSA’s backed it off for a while. Now the dump has been distributed out and we are seeing another rise despite it being known that people are still desperate for PSA cards. Theoretically we should hold steady or see a more slower/healthy growth moving forward right? One could hope

My favourite Charizard card!

Well yea. I thought maybe there was something specific on his mind.

Sure. That’s what I was asking is if he foresaw something specific such as another drop or if he was just saying cards dont increase in value forever.

Sure we saw a retrace. But the price now is higher than it was in 2017. I think im correct when I speculate more people will come into the hobby over the next decade. And demand for graded cards will increase at a commensurate rate. Also, I’ve learned never to bet against Charizard. Just my opinion

It’s a beautiful card but it’s deeply different from previous wotc’s zards. Never say never.

Do you think it’s because people were trying to flip the crystal zard too much or what do you think led to the huge decreases? My thoughts are the more collectors like myself that buy cards and add them to their collection the better. More people buying just to flip is what I see is what could cause issues. Just looking for opinions to why it happened. And congratulations Chevy. I have the reverse in mint condition myself
