SOFT PSA 10

just wondering if there is a market for soft psa 10s?? i got a psa 10 charizard plasma storm 136 that was just graded last month but has white spec on back left corner and a weird almost bend on gold foil front left corner just curious if worth trying to sell. and if on ebay any extra tips to not get a not as described or pictured return.

Ive had a few psa cards returned lately that had similar issue but got a 10 is anybody else having or experiencing this issue?

can you post an image of what you’re talking about?

i will try my best im pretty new to this forum so might need tips on best ways to upload pics

Just upload the image to an image sharing site like imgur, copy the image location url, click the insert image icon on the create post toolbar, and paste the url where it says image url.

there is also a indent front bottom right
Heres a link

This card was out of my collection and i choose to sell it on ebay cuz just got laid off for lack of work. customer requested return for not pictured or matching listing which is frustrating.

but PSA definition of a GEM MINT 10 is Attributes include four perfectly sharp corners, sharp focus and full original gloss. A PSA Gem Mint 10 card must be free of staining of any kind, but an allowance may be made for a slight printing imperfection, if it doesn’t impair the overall appeal of the card. The image must be centered on the card within a tolerance not to exceed approximately 55/45 to 60/40 percent on the front, and 75/25 percent on the reverse.

If there is a bend or an indent then it’s not really a soft 10. It’s a misgrade. Technically you aren’t wrong for selling it as a 10 but expect a lot of return requests.

let me know if i need to take better pictures on issues in reference.

Yeah that’s def what you’d call a soft PSA 10, though I’m sure there’s been worse. The corners and edgewear on the back alone could be enough to knock it to a 9, let alone the weird surface dents on the gold border you’re talking about.

As far as the return situation, if you accurately listed this card as a PSA 10 and provided clear pictures, I’d say it’s completely in your right to refuse a refund. It is a professionally graded card and a 10 is a 10 despite how weak of a 10 it may be. However it may be in your best interest to comply with the customer’s refund request to avoid negative feedback, you’d probably be able to sell this card again easily especially if listed slightly below the current market price.

this is also the same card that has alot of psa 9 because of the Fat bottom thin top issue common with plasma storm cards. this cards has really good centering.
i understand where the guy is coming so im refunding. this is not the only card i’ve had returned from psa within the last 6 months that received a questionable grade. if i question it from now on im gonna have to started cracking cases and resubmitting.

its already sold again to a good friend. im really just posting on here to see if anybody else has had issues or questionable psa returns lately.

I don’t think it has anything to do with PSA returns just “lately,” this is how you can tell the people doing the grading are…well…human, and this has certainly been happening since PSA started grading Pokemon cards. You will find a wide array of corner/edge-wear in the “soft 10” area just as you would with some 9s that “should” have gotten a 10…I took a look at some of my Gold Stars just now and some are REALLY “strong” 10s while some are very clearly “weaker” 10s in terms of edge/corner wear (if we take into account similar, good centering). Despite what people think PSA definitely leaves some room for imperfection in Gem Mint cards (which is where the BGS crowd would love to come in and preach about 1st Edition Charizards, lol).

It is what it is and it’s only reasonable to assume that the PSA graders did their best according to their guidelines and that the grade your card got was warranted unless they made a mistake and overlooked something TRULY egregious (which does happen on occasion, but more often than not PSA gets it right). As was mentioned above, if you provide VERY clear pictures of what you’re selling then you’re doing nothing wrong since you’re selling a professionally-graded card…you just happened to run into a buyer that was extremely particular about the PSA 10s that they buy and you did the right thing by refunding (and had no issues turning it around and selling it again cause, well…it’s still a PSA 10 Gem Mint card at the end of the day).

It does seem to be a popular topic here recently. There’s another thread just a few down from this one about the same thing. I don’t know if it occurs more than it used to or not but it kinda seems like it does.

It only seems like it does because PSA grading Pokemon cards is seeing a huge, continual rise…of course, that is just anecdotal evidence and my own opinion.

But before, it was primarily the large resellers and serious collectors/flippers sending in cards to PSA, but now it seems that everyone is doing it or going through a middleman to have it done and the cost isn’t as prohibitive as it used to be. I can’t go on any social media platform without seeing a swath of people opening a box of PSA returns…lol. That, in turn, leads to a lot more vocalizing of “questionable grade returns,” whether warranted or not.

Good pics and nice card.
The slight back edge ding shouldn’t affect the grade. Unfortunately, due to the blue border, it really stands out.
If you list the card with all those pictures, you should be fine.
I really don’t recall that happening to me but then again, 95% of what I submit I beieve are 10s. That’s why my 9s are ALL strong 9s…they should have been 10s;)

most of the in question grading is on the front top left and middle right.

Don’t forget that If you feel PSA misgraded your card you can resubmit it and you will be reimbursed the price difference based on market value from what grade it was to the grade it should be.

Has anyone here done PSA Financial Guarantee of Grade>🤔 and two new pictures have been added to original link

Wowza that edgewear is nuts! I would have guessed it would get a 7 or 8 based on both the indent and the edgewear. I’d definitely contact PSA customer support by phone and ask to be walked through the process. The only ebay auction I see for a PSA10 is $860, so I’d assume you’d receive roughly $860 - $100 (~PSA7/8 valuation) = $760 for the misgrade. Enjoy!

edit: oh wait, seems you’re professormattcg! nevermind about that $860 valuation! According to PSA, they and they alone determine the market value of that PSA 10, which means things might get sticky if they have no data to work off of. I think it’d be very hard for them to determine a value less than $600 though… and I definitely wouldn’t want to go through another experience of listing, selling, returning again, so any value difference 400 and up would be nice imo.

There is a market for stuff like this, like almost everything, if it’s priced accordingly (less than a real 10).

I just sent Scott a message on eBay 20 minutes ago asking him to upload pictures of the back -always- because PSA has really been messing up to a point I can’t buy a card without inspecting back and front with good pictures. Daily PSA 10 cards are listed which have multiple points of edgewear. Just today a JP gold star 1ed raikou was listed, this are $500 plus cards that PSA are missgrading. And buying a $50 PSA 10 card that isn’t a 10 is also pretty bad. I hate this, but that’s what PSA is doing, not talking about 1 spec of white I mean real edgewear in several places or an entire corner. Unfortunately, we have to adapt to that.

i’ve already sold this card again not on ebay. it just got back card today so i updated pictures. buyer is fully aware of condition.
