I think its time we had an overall species collecting megathread, one that lasts and one where we can all share our little wins and our big accomplishments.
Lets start by giving a brief introduction of ourselves and what species we collect.
I am shero, a (very) small time flipper and big time salamence fan - my primary collection is trying to get a psa 10 of every english and japanese salamence card. I am also trying to collect every jp roaring moon card in psa 10 and a few psa 10 bagons and shelgons also
Progress has been slow this year because i havent been collecting much but i have a nice smallsub at psa that im hoping does well and finishes a big sub goal for me.
Lets hear some introductions and updates from all the species collectors!
I collect English and Japanese for Hoppip/Skiploom/Jumpluff. For now, just officially released cards (I’m looking at you all-variations-of-Expedition-Hoppip—sample, matchprint, E3 demo, glossy/non-glossy—Shoo! Shoo!). I haven’t decided if I want to do cameos or all languages yet, as Hoppip has some expensive-ish cameos (e.g. Tropical Tidal Wave, Tropical Presents) and all languages sounds like too arduous an adventure for me right now.
I’m almost done with English and Japanese TCG, but collecting non-TCG has kept the species collection alive and kicking. I’ve really been enjoying the non-TCG side because of the sheer amount of stuff that’s out there and how easy it makes it to connect with other non-TCG species collectors.
With more post-worthy stuff, as many already know i’m a grimer/muk collector with completed official english/japanese tcg collection and now going through the endless non-tcg world and hoping to one day find the test print cosmos foil fossil muk.
The latest exciting but also very terrifying news about species collecting was the information that all gen 1 pokemon received a playtest card. Those will be alluring if surfacing for sale but no doubt highly expensive

My most notable cards are of course the trophy Miracle Diamond & Championship Arena, but i’m also trying to acquire a 100% complete Japanese PSA10 masterset.
At the moment im not far off! Alongside that i collect a load of singles, different memorabilia, sealed product etc related to Dialga

I have an English master set and have dipped my toes into any JP variants, I will likely expand to full English/Japanese master set in the future.
I also collect every English Jirachi and any unique JP variant or artwork.
Other languages seem too daunting for me right now. Like many in this thread, non TCG Togepi line and Jirachi is where my focus is lately and it’s the Wild West
I collect eevees along with several other friends on here. The unique part of my collection is that I have a complete set of artwork slabs.
