Why do I keep seeing Steam Siege so often mentioned as the worst pack that ever existed? At this point you could make it an idiom: A steaming pile of siege
Yeah but we are talking about long-term here so teamup/unbroken bonds could be printed again to meet demand. Same story with hidden fates. In the long-term other factors will come into play to boost up prices for these products.
Crappy cards and then they bundled it in with a bunch of other products to piss everyone off.
personally i wouldn’t touch modern sets, but modern promos like alola friends collection boxes, mario pikachus etc i dont mind buying a few after I finish my main collecting goals.
I would say Burning Shadows has some room to run as a box is a little over $100 and a PSA 10 full art Zard has broken $1k… seems like decent opportunity actually… May buy another box lol (have 1 sealed).
Seems like some modern sets are defying the traditional thought that they would be poor performers but just looking at some sales history and Flashfire has doubled in like the past couple weeks.
Just a fun little sidenote: When Red’s Pikachu was released in Japan, every single box was sold out at distribution. That had some long term effects on the prices of early S&M boxes, you can’t find Japanese Burning Shadows under 100$ and if you can, PM me, lol. Meanwhile, 1. Edition Crimson Invasion boxes: Still 5000 yen on Yahoo. A box that was *sold out* and probably didn’t have large reprints because of focus on new sets. Now guess what will happen to the English ones
Granted this set has a few iconic cards of the modern era being both Mega Charizards, Lysandre was a big one in competitive play at the time, Pokémon Center Lady, and Pokémon Fan Club. However, I don’t see that alone as being the only reason their values have spiked.
