Right, and there’s a couple on eBay lol. Saw some between $30 and $50 + shipping. There’s also a few of the other Evolutions cards.
Oh those are just the prerelease ones. There are ones that says “STAFF” on the left side of the picture. 8D
They should be plentiful actually, they were distributed by region. The whole West side of the US got Charizard, East got Machamp, South Mewtwo & Midwest got Gyarados. Just give it a couple of months you should be able to snag them up for $15.

100% positive. I talked to a couple of staff members at my local comic book shop where they held the prerelease event. And I made a couple of calls, all Gyarados staff cards; I’m in the Midwest.

It isn’t quite that straightforward as we’ve had Charizard appear at an event in Ohio. I think the rules probably go more like this:
Any prerelease will only have a single STAFF card
Prereleases receive a random one of the options
It’s possible that there is some sort of regional correlation. If this is the case, it is likely much less broad than what seemed to be true from your study. It is also entirely possible that something else is determining the scheme of releases that I can’t see right now. But broad regions can be held in skepticism right now.

I wonder if the staff members just didn’t want to deal with everyone asking for their staff cards, or if the Midwest actually got all Gyarados. So much for my smug 100% haha.

It’s probably just a random mix and the consistency you saw was just good old-fashioned statistical clumping. That seems most consistent with past sets. I sincerely hope it is random as that turns out the most favorably for prices.
No worries, after all this forum is about actual facts;so we must get to the bottom of things. The thing that boggles my mind is that most of where I called and asked actually only said they had Gyarados. Also some guy on IG who worked staff said all of his staff received Machamp. I’m in the process of finding out some more info about this whole region distribution theory.

I don’t think the staff Charizard will ever reach $15 unfortunately; on eBay at least. Actually come to think of it can you actually buy a Charizard for $15 or less lol?

Yeah, some of them are worth less than $10 (Legendary Treasures, Secret Wonders etc). But you’re right, that Staff promo might never hit less than $25
