Sticker Storage: "backing board" options?

Has anyone found a good way to store stickers (Artbox/Merlin)?

I’d like them sleeved and in a binder, but the stickers are so flimsy that a tiny ripple/wave on the page will deform them.

So they need some sort of backing board like comics use, but the backer needs to fit inside standard sleeves (2.5 x 3.5 inches). These are the sort of results i’ve found so far - nothing the right sized yet:

Has anyone been through this process already and might be able direct my search? I’ve tried triple sleeving with thick sleeves.

PS - I usually use pokemon energy cards for pokemon stickers, but this is for a Nintendo themed sticker set.

I’d be curious to know what sleeves you’ve tried or the binder you are using. I have quite a sticker collection myself and haven’t run into this issue.

Unless, of course, you are actually sticking them onto a surface? In that case, I wonder if just acid-free cardstock or sticker backing paper would be good enough. You could easily cut them by hand.

Let me know I’d love to help.

Found some cardstock. Looks to be 2.5" x 3.5" for 50 per pack @ $9.

Thickness says to be 0.04" which is close to the thickness of a pokemon card (35 pt, 0.035 inches)

Mayday games narrow thick sleeves + kmc perfect hard + dragon shield classic clear triple sleeve. The mayday games sleeves fit pretty precisely, and the other 2 are just to add rigidity.

I have a Vault x, wintra (thicker spine), and ultra pro binder available. Some of the pages in each binder have slight waves, and the inner columns have varying degrees of curvature once filled (Merlin 1992 Nintendo 276 sticker set + a few hundred other cards).

All unpeeled. How do you like to keep your stickers?

These look great! I’ll find a similar product in stores in the morning to see how they feel.

One of the suggested products from that page was these custom, blank playing cards. I’m checking other brands to what they offer:

Never thought about the necessity of add rigidity behind my sticker collection.

Actually I use a Ultimate Guard Zipfolio and I iust store the stickers in a penny sleeve…

Could you please explain the possible damage I could cause to the items? For sure I’m missing some points.

I’m not a seasoned sticker collector, so a lot of this is being nervous about what I don’t know haha. My main realistic concern is that the stickers will become lumpy if they sit on a wavy page or an inner column or become creased if gripped when I’m turning pages.

These Merlin stickers in particular are just so thin and malleable that they almost feel wet. Much thinner than pokemon artbox sticker for example. Way, way thinner than modern stickers like the one from Hop’s Zacian ex box.

I used to do many sticker albums as a kid (peeling the sticker actually) so maybe I’m too wild about them ahahhahha.

I think pages are already thick and prevent any kind o possible crease, the flexibility of the sticker is stressed only when you browse the page but if you’ve already added thick sleeves I don’t know how you can damage them.

Adding also paper board seems a bit too much, anyway my solution is maybe too slumpy, but I think a thick sleeve should be enough.

3 thick sleeves, and I can still put a thumb/index finger crease on these things too easily while flipping through. I was surprised too, but these stickers are basically printed on receipt paper. No doubt I also tend to overprotect my things though lol.

Amazon has blank 2.5 x 3.5 playing cards w/ matte, glossy, and no finish options that look perfect. Just gotta decide which option makes more sense

Do you have a photo of one of these stickers, to understand if I have some in my collection!

Here’s one from google. Some real treasures in there lol

I can take a picture of mine too if you prefer. Some are out flattening under card stacks.

I swear by the Vault X sleeves & binder combination.

I use the Vault X Narrow American Board Game Sleeves 56x87mm. They are very thick and provide great protection

It doesn’t exactly provide a solution to your problem but i want to share my artbox sticker binder since i’ve been very happy with my BCW Pro20-T binder pages. The pages are so tight fit that i can’t use any sleeves which is a downside but otherwise the pages have been perfect and they are quite sturdy so i’ve had zero problems or haven’t even considered a possibility of creasing

This just came to me but you can always use an official “Decochara Daiichi Seal Holder” I have never tried them, but they are the preferred way of collecting stickers in Japan. :woman_shrugging:

Here is a picture of one in action

Thank you, just discovered a whole new world of board game sleeves!

Have you ever used them to store any Amada sticker?

That is mainly what I use them for! They also work well for battle coins.

They are about 2x the size of a sticker and I personally don’t care to trim them but I have seen it done at a local card shop.

Awesome, I’ll check these and the Seal Holder out. Thank you!

Love this set. It looks so much better in a binder designed to fit them than what I’m doing haha. I just got the album promo raichu this week!
