After looking at the legal stuff it’s okay to discuss this. I figured a separate thread was best as those who don’t want to see these leaks can simply avoid this thread but still post in the normal Sun and Moon thread.
Posts about these leaks should ONLY be made in this thread. Any posts in other threads will be removed.
Without further ado, here are the leaks. Game Freak scrubbed the demo so we don’t know too much in the way of base stats, but when they were scrubbing they miraculously forgot to remove most sprite images and shiny sprite images.
The Chinese starter leaks are confirmed. Here are the final starter evolutions:
Alolan Geodude, Graveler, and Golem were revealed in addition to Alolan Persian.
Pikipek evolves into the toucan shown on the left. Crabrawler evolves as well.
There are eight Ultra Beasts.
Salandit and Morelull evolve and there is a new line based off a water spider.
Solgaleo and Lunala have pre-evolutions.
This is Marshadow. It’s speculated it has a different forme or an evolution given its similarities to the pre-evolutions of Solgaleo and Lunala, plus it doesn’t exactly fit the trio.
What happened to that Alolan Persian? I don’t know how to begin… It looks like Ditto was transforming and had a seizure during the process. And that last evolution of the bird looks like the Fruit Loops cereal mascot.
Overall, I’m not really impressed by these designs. My opinions about them individually are pretty polarized; either I like them, or they are complete misses in my book.
For the starters, I actually think Fire/Grass are an upgrade from Delphox and Chesnaught. Water is a huge downgrade from Greninja, but it would’ve been almost impossible to beat that anyway; maybe that’s why they didn’t even seem to try.
The initial Alolan forms they announced were interesting, and then it just got progressively worse IMO. Ice Sandshrew/Vulpix and giant Exeggcutor are awesome… Dark Rattata and Meowth not so much… and by the end we had a Dugtrio with hair. What.
The mascot Legendaries have grown on me and it’s even more interesting that they have a pre-evolution. I wonder if they will be attainable. The Ultra Beasts on the other hand… I’m still not convinced they’re not Digimon.
Haven’t finished the demo yet but from what I’ve seen so far, I think the main appeal of Alola is going to be Alola itself rather than the Pokemon that inhabit it. It feels fresh and a huge change of pace from the past, and with gyms pretty much being confirmed to be gone, it’s going to be an interesting game to play through and explore.
This gen is really mixed up for me. There are pokemon that I absolutely love and the rest is like eeww… But I think there’s something for everyone which is great. I’ve spoiled myself with the demo even though it’s out in Europe only in a few days. I’m still going to play it myself even though I’ve seen everything. Oh the struggle when the actual game comes out and Europe gets it last! D: I don’t understand why can’t it be out everywhere at the same time.
I’m so happy that Pikipek evolves into a toucan, I love toucans and tropical birds so much in general so he is going to be in my team for sure I’m happy with Salandit’s evolution also. I’m starting to have an idea about what my team will be looking like.
And as the final evolutions for starters are real, I’m going with Rowlet. I was really hoping Litten to stay on 4 legs tbh… It could have been awesome Luxray-kind of a cat but yeeeah…
The reason the game is releasing a week late in Europe is because there have been many retailers in Europe that broke the street dates, especially for X and Y. @xzini
This was my exact thought as well… I hadn’t even looked it up because I was convinced it was a meme. Now everyone was talking about it seriously and I looked it up. I was like: Really!!! Really?.. sigh…
Same as with the previous gen I’ve got mixed feelings. Some of the designs are really cool imo, and others really bad… I also like the Toucan though, about time they’ve made a Pokémon Toucan.
Just imagine the designers sat round a table, they have been stuck for hours, coming up with nothing but silence. All of a sudden someone comes up with “let’s just put hair on something… worked with mega ampharos… it will work again.” He pulls up the first thing he thinks of, just happens to be a dugtrio… Alolan dugtrio is the result genuinely thought it was a joke till I saw it all over the place.
I wasn’t sure which Sun & Moon thread I should post this into so I’ll post it in here just to make sure nobody’s getting spoiled or anything.
So I came across this video today and I’m so glad that I watched it. It includes some really interesting stuff, speculation, theory, that to me makes a lot of sense. I really recommend checking it, this made me even more hyped for the games as it looks like we might have something really deep going on in the story. I also have to give credit to this guy for having figured out these stuff. Sure those aren’t facts yet but I feel like he is quite close to the reality.

Someone with a keen eye on Instagram mentioned that the number 96 is on Red’s shirt to commemorate the year Pokemon first came out. Still think his design is kind of odd… but I suppose the fact that Red ages gives him yet another point over Ash Ketchum.
