Suzukisan PSA 10 Promo

Hello e4,
I have not seen one of these sell in a long time. Any idea what you would think? A card limited to roughly 200… but also super unique for sure. Curious if any owner, if you sold yours, what would you value it at?
Thank you!

Hello!

If I recall correctly, Suzukisan should only have a pop of 150 and M Sachiko Ex was 100. Pokemon price says two PSA suzukisan’s sold in 2019 for within ~$500. It looks like the only graded M Sachiko Ex to sell was a best offer listed at $5k.

Even when the cards were just released, I saw the pair going for at least $600 on Yahoo! Japan (with the majority of value coming from the M Sachiko). I’d certainly love to buy them, but the price always seems to scale with my WTP at the time T_T

Well I own the card and I doubt I will sell it as it’s one of my favorite cards, but if I MUST sell it I think I would be okay selling it in the mid four figure ranges. It ticks all the checkmarks for a rare card, with very minor drawbacks in my opinion:

  1. It’s a 20th anniversary card.
  2. It has old style drawing for a new style card, which is quite unique for such a modern card.
  3. The print run is relatively low, within the ranges of a trophy card/art academy card/illustrator card (pichu/arceus/zorua).
  4. It’s normally paired up with another rare card and usually sold as a set, so normally if you want this card you’ll have to buy the other M Sachiko card.
  5. imakuni is on it.

Drawbacks:

  1. It’s literally a copy paste of the cover art of “Let’s Trade Please” album from 1998, making the art not unique.
  2. It’ll feel like you’re missing a piece of a complete set if you bought this card separately from the M Sachiko card.
  3. Outside of Japan people do not really know who is imakuni, and most English collectors would find the art weird perhaps since it’s irrelevant to Pokemon.

Personally I really like the card, and I would say it’s an excellent buy/steal if you can find it at the prices theobest mentioned. It not that easy to find though, because usually people do not break their sets with M Sachiko, and I REALLY DID NOT WANT that card because I thought it was really weirdly designed, as I feel like the face in the picture is a perfect representation of something being in the uncanny valley. I’m not 100% sure but I think Scott felt the same, as I think he owns this promo but not M Sachiko but I could be wrong.

One sold on eBay for 2500$ yesterday night. I know that because I’m the one that bought it

I bought a complete Trade Please! CD for 13 USD a few days ago. That’s how you save money, boys.

Damn it, thwarted by big brain plays!

To me personally the fact that the CD cover is the art adds instead of subtracts. The card is certainly unique, it’s distribution was limited, and its availability is dubious with almost no copies popping up this year across the US and Japan.

If simply sharing the art with th CD takes away then I have some amazing deals to recommend for small dollar items that share art with trophy cards that I’m sure would be very enjoyed =)

@fazool I don’t think it takes away from its appeal at all. In fact, it’s a great reference to the golden era. I also have many cards with artworks that appear on other products (e.g. Game Boy promos).
It’s just that for my financial situation and personal collection goals it was more reasonable to spend 13$ instead of 2500.
There’s no question that your promo card will stay far more valuable, however both items have a neat history

Of course, wasn’t trying to compare the two. I also own and love the CD haha.

Just pointing out why I personally valued the card
