The better Lugia?

I love the second Pokémon movie and because of that I really like Lugia. Which do you like more and why?

Aquapolis is wayyy better. Everytime I think about wanting a neo gen lugia I remember they have bad holo scratches and print lines.

Neo Genesis Lugia doesn’t have any competition, and even if it did it wouldn’t be the Crystal.

I love the simplicity of the neo gen lugia and it gives me more of the gen 2 feels compared to when I look at the crystal. A clean holo neo gen lugia is stunning to stare at, imo.

Crystal lugia always looks a little too round to me.

If we include Japanese my hierarchy would be

Japanese crystal > English Neo Genesis > English crystal > Japanese neo 1

I prefer the pose of neo genesis, however the e-reader border combined with the crystal holo pattern is unbeatable.

Gameboy Lugia is the best of all

Neo Genesis Lugia is a closer match to its first view in Pokemon 2000, but I prefer the Aquapolis art.

@pfm thank you for adding pictures. I completely forgot to do that

Both are peak cards of the Gen 2 era, but (if we’re nitpicking) the pose on Neo is awkward and the art on Crystal is pretty boring.

GB promo is a better “default” Lugia card than Neo, and - I’m about to get crucified for this - the Silver Tempest alt art is a better “Lugia flying through a storm” artwork than Aquapolis.

I’d go left field and throw this one in as a great alternative:

If you’ve ever tried to draw a pokemon only from memory you will realize how much your “idea” of what something visual looks like might not reflect reality
