@simensim1, Itās also not technically a trophy card. It simply has all the qualities of one with the double star rarity and pokeball symbol. Itās not as scarce as a real throphhy card, but is the āeconomicā trophy card as smpratte puts it. Still an incredible collectable, but buying ungraded for $600 is silly.
A PSA 10 will fetch about 600-700 on eBay and may go lower at auction I think, so 500 is possible. A near mint ārawā card should go for a lot less, but it has been a while since I last checked prices.
Welcome to efour and welcome to the amazing world of trophy/prize card collecting.
If you are new to this area of collecting, I highly recommend you spend one to two months looking at every and any past threads with the keyword ātrophyā in it and looking at Bulbapediaās vast release info on every single trophy/prize card there is.
I think 1-2 hours a day on reading all that would suffice and if you have any questions after this period of researching, ask us here on efour!
True trophy cards do not appear very often so you may miss out on only one or two opportunities during this research period but trust me, after these two months, you will not only be knowledgeable in this area of collecting, but will also be able to recognize opportunities that arise during the occasional month. Best of luck!
Most recent psa 10 (old label) went for $610 so I agree ungraded for the same price isnāt a āgreatā deal but you can potentially try to get the seller to negotiate or youāll have to be patient and wait for the next auction that pops up. Great card!
The response from that member is a bit cynical and misses the mark.
There are currently none available at $500 Psa 10. Grand partyās value is driven heavily by supply as itās very popular and not consistently availability in mint condition. I sold my last Psa 10 for $750, which is $100 lower than my previous sales.
Thanks guys!
I was unsure if it was considered a trophy card or not; thanks for clarifying!
I realised I was searching with the term ātrophyā as well, and therefore I only got three listings as a result.
Thereās many avaliable ungraded for $200/$300 which is more reasonable as well.
Iām not going for it right now anyways, but in a few months I hope to buy one
Iāll keep on monitoring the market as suggested!
Any other old japanesr prize cards/promos in the same price range that I could have a look at?
Love the artwork on Grand Battle; Iād rather have this one than newer Champions Festivals/Tropical Wind and such
Itās a beautiful card, so I encourage you pick it up all day! Itās an economic trophy card of sorts and definitely wont ever lose value over a long period of time.
I will!
Do we know how many of the Grand Battle that were given out? The PSA pop report says 429 graded cards; do we know the total including ungraded?
No but a ton were produced. Just figure if thereās almost 500 graded, the number produced is in the multi thousands. Itās honestly not that rare but it IS super cool:)
Looking for an actual trophy card around 1k is comparable to a budget buggati. It doesnāt exist.
There are plenty of great japanese promo cards in the 1k- range, but they arenāt trophies; Masaki, Natta wake, fan club, coro, etc.
As for the stamped worlds cards, they are rarer and have a discernible release. For example a semi finalist is in your budget and has roughly 24 copies awarded. Where grand party has thousands but is very popular. It ultimately comes down to what you prefer!
Cool to get a reply from you, Smpratte! Big fan of everything you do; keep it up!
Iāve realised now the difference between the promos and the trophy cards. Iāve spent the evening looking up the different japanese promo-sets, and thereās so much cool artwork!
Masaki Gengar, Masaki Alakazam and coro coro Shining Mew is outstanding!
Aquiring stamped worlds cards is something Iāve looked into as well, and considering some of them has a very low pop, it is tempting!
Iād rather focuse on the promos for now though, due to their artwork and general estetic
Hi, Gary! So cool to get a response from you as well!
Iād consider it as a great thing that thereās so many of the Grand Battle trainers; more people will have a chance to aquire this beautiful artwork!
