Toploaders

Okay, what the hell is wrong with Ultra Pro toploaders? I ordered like 200 toploaders and kept them in a nice area where they wouldn’t move/shift for the past 2 months for when I get new cards and I opened them today because I received a lot of cards in the mail, and literally 150/200 toploaders are bent to shit. Can’t even get a refund from amazon because it’s past the grace period :unamused: I gotta follow Gary’s advice and make the switch to Card Saver 1s

I usually put up with this because it’s only like 25% of the toploaders which are terrible and the rest are completely fine, but even with the toploaders that were fine this time, there were like cracked/chipped parts and plastic bits within the toploaders. Absolutely unacceptable quality but you get what you pay for I guess

Only experience I had with toploaders was bad, bought a sealed pack or ultra pro and they came all dirty, like they were melted or something.

I’ve never had an issue with them personally, but it’s bound to happen with the amount of quantity they pump out. Did you not check condition before you stored them away?

@23lugia23, I went on a huge rampage a few months back with the same issue regarding toploaders but the sad thing is its honestly most brands. Worst I used was Cardboard Gold, followed by Ultra Pro until I ended up getting the ultra pro Premium toploaders (and ive used any brand you could possibly think of too). If you notice in searching theres two separate versions, standard and premium. The premium are a bit thicker, and ive only had a few packs where some were slightly bent, but i found thats bound to happen to at least some. Most of the time these came completely straight, and Columbia Hobby (on ebay and they have a website) has bulk deals on them which arent too bad either.

Additionally, Ive considered card savers as well since thats the go to for many, especially in grading services as well, but my only gripe with them is long term storage. Card savers just seem a tad too flimsy for my taste and if boxing up for long periods of time or in wanting to take them out and show them off, i just think toploaders are much better, so long as you handle the cards in and out properly (I also double sleeve my cards too and use a deck sleeve instead of penny to prevent any accidental corner contact).

They always look straight in packaging because they’re packed like sardines

It’s when you take them out that you realize that they’re curved lol

Hey guys so check this out. Idk if I had bad luck or what. So at first i had all my good cards in ultra pro sleeves inside top loaders. I had them stacked in sets of 10. I went to take some cards out weeks later and noticed about a quarter of them got warped which I thought was impossible inside top loaders. Now I fixed the cards using thick books but after this I’ll never use top loaders. I just went back to old school binder and ultra pro sleeves

Two words: Card Savers

I hear you man. But my question is does this happen to other people using top loaders?

That’s what you get for ordering from amazon. I don’t support that website at all. All my top loafers that I’ve purchased from my local baseball card shop are straight, clear and brand new, Always.

meh, looks like the user who posted this deleted their account, but I wanted to second you with my distaste for amazon as well . Haven’t had a bent top loader since purchasing from a sports memorabilia vendor on ebay as opposed to them.

Agreed. Lol @ loafers

Too much space for air and humidity to get inside toploaders. Time to enter the 21st century…CardSavers.

Sleeves in card savers?

Not if you double sleeve the card and spend an arm and a leg in doing so .

That being said, I think ill be switching to card savers in the future haha. Might go for the ultra pro ones though because they look a little nicer to me, but for now, bulky toploaders it is

Trippin’ the card savers aren’t shut themselves. They’re equally vulnerable to the elements. Card savers look freakin hideous and flappy compared to the compact and tough design of toploaders.

Top loaders are ugly, nonprotective, and takes up triple the space. Plus they’re triple the cost. You gotta come into the 21st century

Yeah right. You’re probably biased cos your friend owns the company who makes them. Convinced ima buy a big ass flap quadruple the size of my cards instead of a pleasant well sized toploader. Hilarious

Hope you’re still enjoying your flip phone :joy::joy::joy:
