Topsun Cards

Can someone give me a complete explanation of the Topsun cards.

  • The actual date of print…I’ve heard different years
  • how many holos there are and how the prints of the blue and green sets work…Is it just a complete gen 1? then holos of some cards?
  • How much singles should go for (commons, uncommon, rares) / a fair price to buy them at?
  • How much complete sets blue/green should go for?
  • How much PSA Charizards should go for?
  • why they aren’t collected more/ factors that might hinder their desirability.
  • Just anything at all about the sets.

eBay sold listings are limited, so I guess when it comes to pricing…just your opinion or if you have some good evidence to support your reason that would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

You’ll continue to hear different years here, copywrite says 1995 on the original set, 1997 on the second vs set.

The original 1995 copywrite cards have 3 variants in their cards. No number with blue backs, blue backs, and green backs. I’m not convinced theirs a full no number set as I’ve been collecting them for a while now and haven’t found more than 50, or know anyone that collects them that has anything other than the 50 I have, the no number cards are very rare (most likely because topsun corrected the error early). The blue back and green both have complete 150 card sets. The blue would be the first print run(s) of the set, and the green would be the last print runs. Green is far more common. There’s no differences in rarity within the set of cards.

Holo cards are similar in that they have three differnt variants. The differences are in the holofoil pattern, there’s angled, and two different square patterns, one square pattern has smaller squares than the other. I don’t know the print order, but the angled foil is more prone to being miscut and the square patterns seem to have better quality.

They’re non TCG and people don’t often collect non TCG cards, that’s the only thing going against the set other than personal opinions.

Pricing is difficult. Personally, I’ve sold PSA graded holo cards for the 300+ range in PSA 9, 500-700 in PSA 10. Charizard holo I’ve sold some 9s for 700+ a 10 went for around 3k I think. Blastoise has been about 600 for 9s, 1k+ for 10. Pikachu and venusaur are somewhere between the others and blastoise, I can’t remember them that well.

For non holos I’ve sold a complete blue back set for $800, but that was years ago. I’ve also sold a blue back charizard psa 10 for $800, but that was years ago as well.
