What do people think about this Charizard, has it potentially been trimmed or is it just a normal miscut? Where base holos cuts always abit sketchy?
It’s hard to get the angle on the tip of the card with my camera as it is having difficulty focusing on such a small area.
Maybe it’s the angle how you took the picture, but it looks off to me. Compare to a normal Charizard, the bottom is straight, while yous looks to be curved, and not in a way a card would typically warp. The middle of your card’s bottom border seems to be thicker than the border at the corners.
The card has a fairly large curve in it so probably makes the bottom border look even more off. Here’s a pic of my pushing down on the curve to show the bottom border.
I have seen cards like this in my collection. I think this is simply how some cards were printed, unlucky draw. I don’t know how this would affect grading but I’d be curious.
Thanks for the input guys. I may just send it off to PSA and see what happens. It’s in pretty good condition. Could anyone chime in who has sent a card like this in to PSA with how it turned out? Or anyone know if this has definitely been trimmed?
Agreed with @buckna. What we’re witnessing here is your standard English card quality for Base and some other WOTC cards. I just looked at some of my Base commons/uncommons to double check and it’s the same story.
I have a couple 1st edition Team Rocket Holo cards with cuts similar to your Base Set Charizard and they were graded no problem. Early WOTC cards have quite alot of weird corner cut errors like that. My Dark Raichu has a weirdly cut bottom and it graded a PSA 10.
I have base set cards similar to that. Usually its not more than 1 corner though. I’ve maybe seen it on 2. I’m no expert, but I think it’s the doing of the factory.
