I’m considering buying a Japanese trophy/prize card under 2k. Any suggestions aside from grand party?

If you want to do your own research on this and not just buys what someone else tells you to, you can refer to this list made by E4 members:

It doesn’t list prices for the cards mentioned, but you can see what looks interesting from that, and rsearch if it’s in your price range.

That Palace Belt is such a gorgeous card! I agree with the options above, before the pandemic I would have said a Mysterious Pearl or Vicotry Ring but those have gone up quite a bit. There are also other options from the L-P promo set such as:

I’m making a video on this exact topic, I’ll try and remember to drop it here when it’s done! It’s going to have English cards as well, the point of the video is to show cards like this exist for literally anyone’s budget.

I think bebe’s search may not qualify for this list pretty soon. Forgot abt the price increases and how big of a pain in the ass/rare she is to find. Had a msg abt this and wanted to acknowledge it. The rest should be easily avail at least raw for under 2k right now.

As someone that’s been keeping track of prices for that exact card on the Japanese market, the last three sales were: 56k (which I bought) NM, 56K NM and just this morning for 82k yen for a pretty mint copy. So yeah, it’s going up although prices seem to be bringing some out into the market.

I don’t have a horse in the race for which card you choose but one thing I’ll say is that to me the trophy / prize cards that are most special and truly set themselves apart are the cards that have unique art.

Or at least something that makes them really stand out from the set card equivalent (such as being a holo when the set card is a non-holo).

Just my 2 cents.

Hopefully not too late. The only thing I haven’t seen mentioned in this thread or in my video are players ceremony cards. I think those are very nice.
