I sold a complete shadowless base set and shipped it out using priority mail ( 1 day) (in same state), fully insured on Aug 5th.
The buyer messages me today saying that he bought it as a birthday gift for someone and needed it by today. And as i checked the tracking it shows in transit for last few days. Buyer wants a refund and has offered to return the order when it is delivered.
At this point should I just accept the return, eat the loss, and relist it.
My only problem I have with this is that buyer didnt specify they wanted it in a certain time period, and it feels like usps has failed me (Nothing i can do). But I also understand the buyers point of view if the birthday reason is legit.
Agreed. Especially for a more expensive purchase like a complete shadowless base set, I doubt going through so much trouble for such a gift would be a deal breaker if its a day or two late. I doubt a slightly late birthday gift of such caliber would legitimately warrant the need for a return. Sounds like bs to me.
I feel like it will come to this even if i resist the return. I probably just will accept it. The item so far hasnt been delivered. Hopefully it isnt lost in transit.
i mean you are limited time for the package to arrive there. And even if you were in that time, he can still dispute it through paypal if that case reasoning is invalid.
Its ridiculous, but ebay is a buyers game. As long as everything is there, its better than dealing with this for another 4 weeks & still having to refund.
Sounds like a scam, when he returns - check all the cards and condition, there’s a chance that he either swapped some cards for lower condition or just stole them.
Summer time, vacation, temporary workers during the summer. I too experience a lot of delay with my delivery service here on the other side of the world right now.
Also, you’d be surprised how many customers get mad at the seller, even though they can see the seller sending the package in a timely manner. Like we own the delivery service or they perhaps expected us to deliver it in person.
This makes me very nervous about selling on eBay; especially if I ever do with it my WOTC stuff ~
Plus, that seller only has a number of three feedback. Personally I would reserve the right to block a bidder (or a buyer) for any reason including but not limited to, feedback, non-paying bidder, bid retractions, and recent bid history, etc.
Literally everybody would be doing it if it was easy.
You got to roll with the punches and find ways to mitigate risk. Be creative!
For instance, you could calculate a fraction of every sale and put that aside for when stuff hits the fan and you need to pay for return shipping etc.
Though you must also know that there are tons of great transactions happening that don’t get talked about. Messages about bad deals always travel faster than the messages about good deals. It can be a minefield out there, but reading through other peoples’ bad deals over here on e4 informs you a whole lot. Also, create a blacklist of names you find in the threads over here so you don’t have to deal with them.
You’re right; but then again not everyone is that assertive and ingenious when it comes to scams ~
But I agree; everyone tends not to remember the good things - whether that be transactions, commentary etc - as opposed to the bad. But really thanks for that post, MegaZone :3
