**UPDATE** Stolen KAMEX Computer Error from My Porch

Hello Forum,

I need your help. I purchased my first trophy card last week from a person I consider a friend on Instagram. Everything went smoothly as expected. The expected deliver date was Monday 12/23. I waited to go to San Francisco (took the family to see Hamilton) on Saturday just in case the package arrived early. It did not, and tracking said that it was still expected to be delivered on Monday. I thought I was in the clear. However, I get a tracking update on my phone while I’m sitting in the Orpheum Theater… Delivered FRONT PORCH. I was livid…I have spoken to my postal carrier several times about leaving items at my front porch because I have had multiple packages stolen. The neighbors that I know and trust are out of town, and my sister can’t get the package until arount 2:00 the next day. I wanted to drive home right then and there to get the card, but my wife gave me the don’t even think about it glance. Needless to say, when my sister went to get the package it was gone. My camera shows that it was taken about an hour after it was delivered…I wouldn’t have made it to my house in time. The image is no help to the police because the sucker was wearing a hood over his face. I’ve reported the theft, but I thought I would reach out to you all. If you see this card anywhere for sale please let me know…

Thanks,

You should upload the camera footage. Sorry this happened to you, especially during the holidays.

Is that PSA case in a screw-down holder? Also thats a big blow to happen so close to Christmas. Can you file a claim with your post office?

I filed a police report…this is the third time I had to file a report. The other two went nowhere.

So sorry to hear man. Any chance at an insurance claim? Seller is responsible for getting the item to you after all, and he should be the one fighting this out with postal services to get the money back for their blunder. Of course that won’t replace a card as rare as this but at least you wouldn’t be out whatever you paid for it.

Sorry to hear that man :slightly_frowning_face: If your neighborhood is notorious for scumbags, have you considered getting a PO Box?

Here is the dumbass…he hit my house and broke into a couple of my neighbors cars. This is the best view of his face

Rest assured, people will be on keeping an eye out for it on eBay.

Did the seller say he provided a packing slip or have any information regarding its value?

The PSA case may give away its value. But also make it easy to track.

I believe it had a declared value of $1000.00

He did his job…he got it to my address.

The damage is done, now its damage control. If i was in your position i would be like a hawk on all local auction sites like craigslist, ebay and call local pawn shops. Did he get away in a vehicle or on foot ?

I’ve contacted my local card shops, pawn shops, and other outlets. I’m on local selling sites, so I should see it. I’m not sure how he got away.

I’d definitely advise getting a PO Box. Did you specify the insurance value or was it the seller? $1000 seems pretty low for this card.

The seller.

Make sure you follow up with your local police about your case so it doesn’t get shoved aside.

Hopefully you can claim off of the postage company/sender for not doing signed delivery (not sure if that’s a thing in US).

I had a gameboy stolen as a kid and the police were literally worthless until my father came to them with footage of the guy trying to pawn it at a local video game store. Hopefully the perp didn’t just throw it on the side of the road or destroy it.

I am terribly sorry this has happened to you. I’ve worried about this same situation happening to me for quite some time.

This is one of my worst fears, especially if the seller is a good friend.

How did you pay?

You would have recourse if you paid via G&S as signature is required for seller protection for sales over $750 IIRC. Same goes for eBay seller protection.
