Updated PSA Set Registry App

Sorry if this thread has been made already but PSA just updated their Set Registry App. Kind of gimmicky with the medals and achievements but I didn’t even know they had an app like that.

I just downloaded it and I’m curious what everyone’s thoughts are and if the majority of e4 uses the registry? It seems like a slick way to keep track of your cards and sets while keeping up to date on all the prices.

The set registry is super cool for sports.

It doesn’t make much sense with Pokemon. It really only favors set collectors which isn’t how most people collect graded. Any way of making the accomplishments fit Pokemon requires awkward gerrymandering of cards into “sets” no one even thinks about in practical reality.

I would be surprised if it ever reflected 5% usage by people who collect graded Pokemon consistently.

So for the handful of set collectors, it’s a great tool and they’ll have fun tracking what they’ve bought if they don’t prefer an old fashioned spreadsheet. But it will remain irrelevant on the scale of Pokemon collecting as a whole.

They should have built in some actual monetary rewards (like free grades or merch).

I collect WOTC 1st ed holos and sets of japanese promos so the set registry works great for me. If you fit into their predefined set lists, I would highly recommend it. There are also features that you can use to quickly find listings for cards you still need on ebay. You can also use the set registry system as a way to keep track of all you PSA inventory.

`Free Submissions

In order to encourage participation in the PSA Set Registry program when your set reaches
90% complete, you may be entitled to free grading for cards and tickets (effective 1/1/14).

I’m liking it as an Inventory tool so far, sure I’ve got the excel sheet with the same thing but it’s pretty easy to just pull up the app. Plus you can upload individual pics of each card.

I love the new app. They have made a ton of improvements to it over the last year, with this being the most significant change. The UI is super clean and it’s even easier to add inventory and sort cards into into sets. I guess the complaint people have is that they only have recognized, predefined sets, but that makes sense since it’s a hybrid community tool as well. Even if you don’t put cards into sets, it’s still really easy to organize and manage, and more convenient than spreadsheets IMO.

The new medals though? Stupid. They are trying like an XBox Achievement Point type thing which serves no purpose.

I like the app and concept so far (aside from the badges). I use it to keep track of my Pokemon and Yugioh collection as I collect both via PSA and how much I paid for each card.

Aside from “Sets”, they also offer “Showcases” which I’m using as a sort of my own self-defined grouping of cards. They also added several different ways to display the set/showcase/inventory in an image gallery so its easier to look at.
