Venting about eBay...

Just have to vent about this for a second…

Buyer makes an offer on one of my items. I counteroffer and the buyer accepts. The buyer then replies and said that they want me to cancel the order because - “I’d like to buy these but on my actual account. Can you please cancel the order?”. Ummm, what?? Why the heck did you make an offer on an account that’s not yours?? What?

Well the message was sent late last night and I didn’t have access to a computer. They then send me a cancel order request today. I’m at work at this point so he has to wait until I get home. Then I get another message saying “I have messaged you multiple times asking you if you could please cancel my order due to a mistake, yet with no reply at all. IThis will be the last time I message you. If you do not reply I’m going to take it to the eBay support.”

Are you freaking kidding me?? You sent a message to me LAST NIGHT AND I WORKED 16 HOURS TODAY. Wellp, I cancelled the order and I’m relisting the item. I am NOT selling to this guy if he offers again. No way. So done.

People are soo freaking frustrating. I have to deal with entitled jerks at work all day (granted we have quite a few very nice clients which makes me like my job most days, sadly today was not one of those days) and then this. eBay sucks sometimes.

END RANT.

I just had a customer an hour ago buy an item, pay, message me for tracking, then ask for a refund. He also said he would get eBay involved if I didn’t refund.

I sold an item yesterday to this guy, he messaged me. Mail this tomorrow morning first class with tracking, upload the tracking right away.

Well my listing says 1 day handling so yes I will be mailing it tomorrow, I also state in the listing it will be first class with tracking. So thanks for reminding me how to run my business. I understand people get really excited making purchases and want to get them ASAP but really…

You mean you guys aren’t attached to your eBay accounts, ready at all times to answer to your buyers (or not buyers) beck and call every second?!?! Blasphemous! You should be ashamed!

But really though. I get buyers who opt for free shipping, the one that I state takes 2-8 business days (regular stamped envelope) and they are messaging me 24-48 hours after they pay why they haven’t received it yet, or where their tracking # is. I mention that I do offer for $2.50 a tracked and must faster first class shipping service. They never want to pay, but expect the highest of treatment for their $1.39 single order. It isn’t everyone, but it is too many of them.

Well on the flip side of things, I bought a card off eBay yesterday only to be messaged by the seller this morning that they do not in fact have the correct card. They claimed to be “new to the business” even though they have literally thousands of card listings up and 4300+ Feedback. I think even common sense would’ve dictated the common version of the card would not be selling for 30 dollars.

To me, it clearly seemed like they realized the card was worth more than they were selling it for and decided to back out. They begged me not to give them negative feedback.

I decided to be the bigger man and simply asked for a refund and moved on.

I had a guy email me yesterday for tracking on a card I shipped out around a week ago. Not eBay message, but a direct email which was definitely weird. One line, “hello please send me a tracking number for my card -sent from my iPhone”

I directed him to actually read my listing, which clearly states that cards are shipped via regular post unless the purchase totals $75 or over in which case they are upgraded to tracked shipping. Not on the level of what you guys experience, but it’s just so annoying that people don’t take the time to read the listings of the items they buy.

Yea, I can’t believe people won’t read the full description and look at every picture before purchasing. Especially with all the random grab bag lots and stuff on ebay. You have to read everything!

eBay is a shady place sometimes and it seems to be common sense to check every aspect of a listing in full detail before purchasing but there are lots of ignorant or oblivious people out there that lack common sense. Pretty lame.

ebay is just full of dumb people who dont read the listings online. they just see OH GOOD PRICE I WILL BUY then expect it to be there within a day. or see it buy and then check they got no funds for it so they cancel.but then again like in retail ALL COMMON SENSE goes out the window when its online.

I had this one buyer message me stating that my item was not as rare as I claim to be they would only pay like 50 dollars for it. I told him find me listings within a year of the same item for that price on ebay and I would sell it to him for that price.instead he sends me 4 listings to a random chinese site that has listings from a year and a half ago. I told him go ahead and buy it from them then just dont come crying with middleman fees and all that when its not that 30-50 you wanted to spend.

Negative that shit

I’m really sad that sellers can’t leave negative feedback for buyers… :slightly_frowning_face:

Didn’t know that you couldn’t, I had to go check. That does suck, What does reporting the buyer do?

I actually don’t think I’ve ever given a negative feedback on eBay. Maybe once? I’ve had plenty of bad experiences but part of me sympathizes with the possibility of uninformed honest mistakes. So long as I get my money back, I’ll at least give a neutral.

I wish eBay would leave the negative themselves.
