Hey guys, was wondering if there were any sort of vintage Pokemon leagues out there? (Gen 1)
Do you guys think this might take off like there is with vintage Magic?
There are grassroots old-school events as side events at official Regionals on occasion. All of these that I have seen featured formats from 2005-2008 area.
The WotC era really sucked to play, for the most part, and isn’t very popular from what I have seen. For that reason, I don’t ever see it being a huge thing.

One of the reasons for there not being any “gen 1” tournaments is that WOTC was a reaaaaallllly slow time for the TCG.
Also there are only like 3 or 4 viable decks for gen 1 vintage yeah so would be pretty boring with everyone using the same cycle of decks

Charlie’s right, 2005 and 2006 are the most popular legacy formats probably followed by 2010. The original formats have the reverse problem as magic with results to power creep in most scenarios. Most modern cards are way more powerful and interesting and offer unique combos.
