This is since Oct 7th…
The trick is to enable offers and set the auto decline to your asking.
Use it wisely
Doesn’t work, I end up with a lot more unpaid items. A lot of people just hit you’re mark to take your listing down so they can sell theirs.
I’ve been doing this a log time, this is the best it gets.
Fair play in replying to all of them, must get very annoying lol
I love the people who offer way below listing and then follow up with “I can pay right away” lol.
Also just noticed that team-2972 guy. He basically sent me the exact same message for a card I have listed (different offer of course).
I’ve never been a seller so wouldn’t know the magnitude of messages one might receive. Fair play for keeping on top of them is all I can say
The real irony is all but the BGS have sold now.
I have another PSA 5, but I’m not ready for this yet so it’s staying unlisted.
Jfc
Haha
checking to make sure I’m not in these somehow
You see this type of thing at all price ranges, too. Earlier this week I literally had a guy message me about a $3.99 card offering $2 and saying “I can pay right away.” I seriously hope you can “pay right away” for a $2 card.
I don’t know why people think saying “I can pay right away” is some sort of incentive for the seller to sell at a lower price, especially when many of us have “require immediate payment” marked in the settings.
The truly admirable part about this is that @cullers took the time to respond to each person. Well done actually replying, my friend. That’s an ignore from me 99 percent of the time.
Do these tactics by the buyers actually work on other sellers? Like, what’s the best you’ll take? Does that honestly work for them?
Today I had someone offer me half my list price, to which I countered closer to the list price. Then they countered back with their original offer with the message “birthday present”. Like imagine bringing a TV in BestBuy up to the register and offering half the sticker price… and when they say no you try to guilt them into selling it for that price because it’s a birthday present… just funny.
“What’s the best you’ll take,” “what’s the lowest you’ll take” and any other variation of the same question is probably the most annoying thing a buyer can ask and easily the biggest time-waster, especially if there is a “make offer” button right on the damn listing. I don’t even bother responding to those questions. I used to, but 99.9 percent of the time, the customer ends up not purchasing anything.
I always use this analogy: would you walk into Walmart, pick up a booster pack, go up to the register and say, “What’s the lowest you’ll take?” Of course not. You either buy the item at the floor price or leave the store. You should treat eBay sellers in the same fashion.
EDIT: @miraclegro apparently we are thinking of very similar analogies lol. Exactly right.
I’ve found it is best to ignore messages like this because 9 times out of 10 those kind of buyers are a waste of time because they either don’t pay, or if they do pay, they will later shoot me a message saying “please cancel the transaction.” It can be very frustrating from the seller end.
@cullers, I appreciated this post. It made me lol so thank you for the late afternoon fun
That’s what I figured. After seeing how many replies that cullers got on his items I was concerned this was some secret successful move that sellers succumbed to.
what is the lowest you would take
<what is the highest you would pay?
Dont even reply.
