What are you thankful for? 2020

Hey guys!
It being the time of thanksgiving in the US I thought I’d make a thread about what we are thankful for in these times. I know there is a lot of stress in today’s world whether that’s because of Covid or politics or many other life events. It’s good to take a moment and reflect what good things we have. Even if you don’t celebrate thanksgiving so like most of the world, you can still be thankful for stuff :blush:

I’m really thankful for this community. Having people to share interests with as well as learning about new interests has been a real pleasure in these times. We’re stuck in our houses and yet the forum is popping off even more than usual allowing us to meet and get to know even more people. I’m also thankful for good food. Good pie is awesome and this season gives me an excuse to eat a bunch of it. What are you guys thankful for?

Also @nightshadowj I’m tagging you so you can finally have a post :blush:

Id be thankful if any baseball collectors could help me. I got baseball cards Topps from 1960s and I don’t know what type of penny sleeve to buy. They seem thicker than Pokémon. Can anyone help?

As for Pokémon - I’m glad I got most of the cards I like before covid. Because now I can’t get anything.

I’m thankful pokemon is recognizing people like shiny Pokémon. The shiny charizard are cool. Even though I have none

I’m thankful for my health, my family and their health, a great career that I love and no rarity Pokémon cards. Especially the one I just bought.

Praying for a 2021 that is less intense.

Im most thankful for my health, my friends here and in real life, and for being able to wake up each and every day alive and well. Years ago for me it was always a gamble whether or not I would be able to, so to have that is truly a blessing.

I do these types of reflection daily, but im grateful to see a post here to also public share these thoughts. The holiday season can truly take a huge toll on me, but having this to share these thoughts is a great way to approach the rest of this week and those to follow.

So in addition to what im thankful for, im also thankful for this post as well. Hope everyone here has a wonderful rest of the week :blush:

I have a lot to be thankful for this year.

  • At the start of January I got engaged to my beautiful fiancée;
  • At the end of January we picked up a golden retriever we’d been waiting for since the previous October;
  • In March we viewed an incredible house and put in an offer which was accepted;
  • At the start of June I picked up my complete 2009 Design Contest set after looking online pretty much every day since late 2016 and finding nothing;
  • At the end of June we moved into our new house - it’s great not to be paying someone else rent for a change;
  • …and since then we’ve had a lot of fun putting the house together - we’re going to be starting on the garden this weekend - the drastic increase in Pokémon prices has allowed us to do a lot more than we had otherwise planned to.

I’m sure most people stopped reading after point 2, so here are pictures of our goldie when he was 2 months old:

…and now that he’s 11 months old:

He’s a little shit, but we love him to bits.

Very thankful for my irl friends. They’ve helped me more than they will ever know, and I cherish the bonds we’ve built together. We’ve only grown closer over the past year despite being geographically separated from each other for a good portion of it, and I’m proud to see what kinds of lives my friends are beginning to lead. Each day I think about them and how blessed I am to have them in my life.

I’m thankful for my job. I can’t say I know many people who enjoy where they work or what they do to collect a pay check, but I’m happy to say I am happy with where I’m at. I was at a point with my previous position where I felt like quitting, and actually was planning on doing so on the day I was offered my current position. The universe certainly works in strange ways. I don’t intend to work for the rest of my life, but the job I have now offers tremendous opportunity if I wish to take it. How many people can say that too? Unfortunately I would imagine, not many. Each day heading into work I am reminded of how thankful I am that I have my job, even if its only part-time.

I’m thankful for this forum too, for making me feel like I belong. No one I know irl shares my love and passion for the hobby, and having a place to go to immerse myself in it is truly fantastic. It isn’t perfect but that’s not to distract from the levels of appreciation and enthusiastic like-mindedness I’ve been able to find here. I lurk, search and read more than I post, but I truly feel a sense of community here. So thank you, everyone :blush:

I am thankful for: my significant other, my pets, my family, my friends, my academic mentors, my job, my health, the health of everyone else I listed, the pokemon community, the healthcare community, my video game collection, and my burgeoning pokemon collection.

Also, Efour Secret Santa.

Spirit. Thank you. Thank you for providing us with the direct-port nitrous… uh… injection, four-core intercoolers, an’ ball-bearing turbos, and… um… titanium valve springs. Thank you.

And pokeman.

Very thankful for my family, my health, my cats and in particular my very understanding and extremely beautiful wife who supports me collecting expensive pieces of cardboard from my childhood with pictures of monsters on them lol.

E4 Discord. There is a real sense of community and for someone who hasn’t gone out much during corona virus, it has been a real treat to talk with everyone.

Very happy that (so far) my immediate family and myself have all remained healthy and employed throughout this entire mess.

Honestly thankful I didn’t lose a loved one from this pandemic. That was my biggest fear in 2020. I hope all of your families are healthy as well. Wishing you all a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

I’m thankful I finished my Gym 1st Ed and *nearly* finished my Neo sets in March. The relief is real.

Otherwise, I’m thankful my job had the flexibility to transition to working remotely.
