What causes this on or in a PSA case?

At first I was pretty upset because I thought this was on the card directly but after moving the card around inside the case I realized these weird smudges are on the inside of the case. The good news is if you call PSA and explain the situation they will reholder the card free of charge. I am in the process right now but it’s still disappointing when you pay a four figure sum for a card and the first thing you notice is this. It really sticks out in person.

Probably something from the sonic welding process. Gemmintpokemon had something similar on the case of his 1st ed base zard 10 he recently auctioned via PWCC.

I’ve seen this as well on a few of my grades. Thankfully, it seems to be on the inside of the case and not the cards themselves.

I have this on Crystal Lugia that I own and thought the same thing. You don’t have to pay for the recasing from PSA?

@crystalcollector149 Well I called them because I was pissed about it and explained that I had just bought it but couldn’t see it in the pictures and I told them I didn’t think I should have to pay for a reholder since it’s basically a defect on their end and the kind lady I talked to put me on hold, spoke to her manager, then told me to send her an email with the photos and she’d get back to me with directions on how to send it in. I’m still waiting for a reply but it was just before the weekend so no hurry. If it didn’t look like it was on the card I wouldn’t care but it appears as damage and it would affect my ability to sell it if I were interested in doing so (I’m not.)

Oh okay I hear you. Yeah mine has it in like 3-4 sections on the case. One right in the middle. Others just on the edegs. Really weird defect
