Hello, I was wondering if it is safer to invest in older sealed product like jungle booster boxes, or highly graded ultra rare PSA cards like PSA 9 and 10 Shinings, Crystals, Gold Stars, etc. or newer sealed product. And of the ultra rare cards what is the safest to invest in? Thanks
Diamond and pearl and black and white era cards.

easiest answer is sealed items, as they are all getting broken by youtubers… and prices going up.
Sealed product in general is always the safest investment, and on top of that the older product obviously does better. If you are specifically looking to invest in the older sealed product you have missed some of the boat in terms of boom time. It’s still unpredictable what will happen in the future but the reason sealed product is the safest is it’s incredibly rare for an item to be worth less than what you paid for it.
PSA 9 and 10 chase cards are a riskier investment because they are susceptible to more price fluctuations and the ‘mood’ of the market. There is always another card at there that can get a PSA 10, there is always another card that can be opened from a pack, but there is never going to be anymore of that sealed box(that may change for future sets).
1st edition base set Charizard its basically the holy grail in terms of cards that were part of a standard set. The demand for it is crazy and as long as pokemon card collectors remain in the market it will be the card tha most would like to own. I consider it the michael jordan rookie card of pokemon card collecting.
Hard to argue with this…
I agree that sealed product from the WOTC era is a safe investment.
Although the 1st edition Base Charizard is in high demand, it has also just seen a price spike. To me that means that if you want to invest in one you could expect the market to remain about where it is for a little while. May even see a slight decrease soon.
As far as investing in graded cards goes just be careful. As @milhouse said, more cards can always be graded. Graded card populations that haven’t moved in years can suddenly explode and that really devalues them. If you want to make a good investment in graded cards, the best way is to buy raw and grade them yourself. Although it can be difficult to find the right cards, it also provides the biggest chance to score amazing cards for cheap.
