What kind of damage is this on the PSA case?

Hey guys, I sold some cards to a buyer from the USA and when the cards arrived, one of the PSA case has been damaged.

The is a weird kind of damage as the buyer claimed the case sleeve seems undamaged but the case of the card has that ugly patch.

He is asking for a partial refund of $25 for the reholdering cost and I’m willing to refund $40 only after the case has been reholdered and I’m shown an invoice from PSA.

Has anyone of you seen this damage before?
This reminds me of using toothpaste to clean my cases lol.

Perhaps the buyer was really… excited to receive the card?

Did they try water?? ??

Do you have pics of the card prior? im pretty sure you didnt send it like that? …does the guy have the envelope etc from postage to show?

My guess is:

  1. Stain (LOL @pkmnflyingmaster)
  2. Looks like some sandpaper scrapped the plastic
  3. Some residue melted outside/inside due to extreme temperatures from post
  4. Scammer

This was how it was sent + sleeve. It looks a lot like a thumb print I must say but HOW?

Just ask about the texture of the damage and the water thing

He did say the package was pretty beat up but he didn’t take any picture of the package

  1. Should come off with water.
  2. The card was in a sleeve wrapped in bubble wrap.
  3. Temperature thing is probable but it’s the first time I’ve seen this.
  4. Unlikely as he accepted the request of only receiving the refund AFTER the card has been reholdered.

It seems very fishy to me
And it it was due to extreme temperature…one thumg on the front…surely it would have lighter damage at the back if it was hand pressure…which again…its really strange.

I dont know how easy it is to ask psa or someone who knows but before giving him anything…I would proceed with caution.
(It may well be a legitimate issue, strange things do happen…but even still. So many scammers who would steal your shoes given half the chance)

UFO? Super leak from a… container/bottle?

I do hope this is just a legitimate issue, nothing else. Hope everything gets cleared up ASAP.

  1. Agreed
  2. Hence why it’s suspicious, maybe he his thumbs have a sandpaper textured to it
  3. Same
  4. Seems, fair, maybe something really unfortunate happened and you and your buyer got really unlucky =/

looks like the plastic melted

How could the plastic melt if the outer sleeve was fine?

This is exactly my concern. The buyer has sent the card to PSA (within hours of receiving the card from the post office) to be reholdered. I have refunded him the postage cost to PSA but have not yet send him the reholdering cost.
