I was looking through ebay listings recently for Japanese Booster Boxes only to stumble across a listing for sealed boxes of the old Chaotic TCG. This brought back a flood of memories and I considered buying them since they were relatively cheap, only issue is that all the information about different sets and lists is only on wikipedia and a the wikia for the game(even then the lists are incomplete). So I’m holding off for the time being.
I’m Considering collecting Yugioh, Dragon Ball Z seems a little complicated with all the different companies who printed it and I’m staying away from magic… well until I manage to actually find time to go to an fnm like my friend has been wanting me to.
Dragon Ball Z TCG by Score Entertainment is an awesome game but it just has to many promo cards. Easily 20-60 per set. Some extremely hard to get even back when the game was actively played. Also, the real 1/1 cards, like the World Championship Cards are owned by a guy in Germany and he’s not parting with it. Last time he listed it on eBay (lure ad) he was asking 25k$ for it.
Dragon Ball Z TCG by Panini is just not worth it, you can get boxes for about 20$ and complete every single set with opening less than 4 boxes.
Dragon Ball Super TCG by Bandai is just out, 2nd set coming later this year, cards are very flashy and only got into it like an hour ago (for reals, got invited to Facebook group by old player friends from back in 2000-2002).
My weakness besides Pokémon is Upperdeck’s SpongeBob Squarepants TCG from back in 2003. I’m a big Spongebob fan and this TCG is very easy and funny to play. It sold so bad that the 1st expansion barely sold and is hard to find. I only have a(n) (almost) complete first set.
The Star Trek CCG is really engaging to play. I remember when they stopped it I bought a bunch of boxes for 15 euro (could’ve been even guilders) a piece and I sold the packs a few years ago all to one guy in LA.
I collect MTG pretty seriously, buying and selling it is sort of my hobby though it’s more like a side business now with the amount I’ve got into it and turnover each year.
Though I don’t currently collect any of them I did play Magic, Lord of the Rings, Star Trek, Star Wars, Netrunner, Rage and probably a few others I’ve long forgotten about. Still have all those stashed away somewhere (sadly sold all my magic cards though!).
I play Magic but don’t seriously collect it like I do with Pokemon. Something about the the feel of the cards and the 15 card packs. I love create a deck and (un-sleeved) being able to shuffle them and bang them on a table to straighten them without things aout how I’m damaging the cards and going to lose money by turning minty cards into lightly played cards.
I buy a Yu-Gi-Oh! tin or deck maybe once a year at this rate. Usually around the fall/holidays a nostalgic Yugi and Kaiba product comes out that always manages to catch my eye. Can never get enough Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Dark Magician lol.
I’ve collected Pokémon (for the sake of collecting) and Yu-Gi-Oh (both collecting and playing the TCG) in the past, and even had a lot of Yu-Gi-Oh Decks (Zombie; Naturia; Crystal Beasts; Batteryman; Final Countdown; Banish; Harpie Ladies; Dinosaur; Spell Counters; Water; and loads more… Zombie was my main Deck however, with Crystal Beasts and Naturia as second/third). Actually, I still have them, but they no doubt contain loads of now-a-days banned cards.
