What Pokémon has the Best Artwork? There are certainly cases to be made for many! It is clear that some Pokémon just get better treatment, normally this is the case for the more popular Pokémon.
In your opinion, what Pokémon has the best artwork?
I would love to hear your thoughts! Pictures are encouraged. Feel free to provide as many cards as evidence to why you think a certain Pokémon has the best artwork.
I will start:
Rayquaza
It is no secret that Rayquaza has some amazing cards! Here are some of my favorites in no particular order:
Okay I know a lot of people hate on the last one, but it is one of my favorite ex cards and I think it is very unique and cool looking!
There are so many more cool and amazing Rayquaza artworks not listed!! Also feel free to add onto someone elses posts with more artworks
Off the top of my head I would say Espeon, or possibly Umbreon. Here are two that don’t get enough attention IMO Though i would agree they are a bit basic
Edit: Lapras! Every Lapras card is top tier. People hate on Fossil Lapras because of the teeth but I would argue that’s the closest to how Lapras ‘should’ be.
I’m far too lazy to post pics, but I always think of Ampharos as a Pokémon that frequently gets plugged with good artwork. Agree with Rayquaza in the OP. Celebi, as well, has lots of good ones.
Also, @nickofturl, that art is amazing. Kawayoo is one of the GOAT artists IMO.
For responding those PokeDex art threads and going through all cards of Pokemon from gens 1-4 so far, I can say in my opinion the Pokemon with consistently good art all around are Houndoom and Suicune. I’d say maybe Ninetales and Gardevoir as well. Only good stuff.
