Hey everyone! So me and my friend from back home have been talking about working on a living Dex. Kind of like a little competition between the two of us haha. We both got into collecting around the same time, and both have a HUGE collection of “bulk”.(Mine are atleast sorted and holo-reverse holos in another box). So question or questions I’m not sure yet… what should I use as a binder? I’m not the biggest fan of the 3 ring ones that you put the pages in yourself, but it’s 1,025 Pokémon currently that would have to go in. I’d like to keep it all one binder if possible. How would y’all go about tackling this task? I’d love to see if any of y’all have done this!
There’s a binder you can use called ‘The Beast Binder’ - I think it holds 1440 cards?
Really fun idea and its something I want to take on one day too! You should update us in a collection thread!
edit: it holds 1280, so should be enough until the next gen at least
@thurco funny you say that, I was looking at that one on Amazon. My buddy and I figure even at 1,025 Pokémon right now and that binder holding 1,280 cards. That should at least get me into the end of Paldea if not whatever new series comes after. That would be 175 new Pokémon they would have to introduce. It’s not impossible, but the likelihood of them adding them in isn’t likely. But I definitely will start a thread when I start this journey!
I know it is not the info you asked but we recently had a very interesting thread about National Dex binders and had some great responses. Maybe you will find some inspiration for the your goals.
Cheers!
Whatever you decide to go with just note that Pokemon will release more. Maybe get a binder for each generation? Gl!
For the first two generations I’ve got a binder with the first appearance of every Pokemon in Pokédex order, in Japanese.
Hope to eventually carry into Hoenn and Sinnoh, not too bothered about the generations after that
almost the exact reaction I had haha
I’ve got two binders. One nice Ultra Pro where I’m trying to do WotC era cards for gens 1 and 2 and then completing the dex in a cheap binder with non-rulebox cards.
There’s also plenty of room in the back of the Ultra Pro which Inuse for random favorite things.
I started a living dex binder as well, they’re really fun to put together. My biggest qualm with them is Pokemon seems very intent on continuing regional forms and just adding different forms of existing Pokemon in general (Megas coming back sort of fits into this category), and if theses forms something you’d like to include it can get really complicated and annoying when trying to organize the binder in the first place and then having to rearrange every single card once the next inevitable Charizard form is released.
