I have a bunch of errors mainly square cuts, miscuts and crimps. I would guess a majority of my errors would grade around 8-9s and was wondering if anyone has any data on how much value is added to common/uncommon cards with these errors? I have tried looking around for sales data but haven’t been able to find anything.
If it’s a popular pokemon you could probably squeeze some money out of the card.
Wotc cards would get better value but it’s likely not worth the grading cost unless it’s for your personal collection.
The error designation will likely not add anything to the card. It is the error that people pay for. That said, miscuts and square cuts will make you some more, but I would not bother grading the crimped cards
Ah so crimps are not considered that special? This is something I did not know.
square cuts are from people hand cutting cards off sheets. I don’t know why people consider that more valuable. I’ve never seen 4 square corner cards come out of a pack. I’ve only seen 2 and 2 cards out of packs. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
Crimps are considered plenty special and depending on the type and severity are very cool and desirable. In my other hobbies crimps can be much more desirable (and expensive) than square cuts.
This is of course personal, but a very large crimp is something super cool
@jared
Some of them are mishandled scrap obtained by print facility workers, a lot of them are post-factory cut, and some are pulled from packs. I have seen a four corner square cut card pulled. I wish I had the video, because I would post it to the error guide, but it’s been a few years and I can’t find the link. But yes, they’re quite rare!
I should also add, WotC at one point sent square cuts out as a replacement for defective cards returned to them… So there are several sources of origin, but a lot are post-factory cut.

I do remember that situation of replacement cards now that you mention it! Thanks for reminding me!
Where’s that Shining Tyranitar meme.
Thanks for all the info so far everyone
