how does PSA Deactivating a cert work? its still technically psa graded, and most people wont be checking the Site to see if the cert is activated. So whats the point? it just seems pointless to me.
before you reply and say this question has been asked before, ive searched for it. They have asked why when copies are made do they deactivate, and why they deactivate certs, but i guess this title is misleading because i want to know the POINT of deactivating it. As most people wont be checking the site to see if the cert is legit. all it does is make people who know to check it not buy it, causing the inexperienced to buy a card. When its gonna be bought anyways.
You’ve answered your question. Deactivating a cert notifies the prospective buyer that the card does not fall under their guarantees. It also removes the card from the pop report.
Does it help buyers who don’t check the certs before purchasing? No, it won’t. But it’s primarily used to remove PSA’s liability and to nullify their authenticity/grade guarantees.
K. So U actually answered it. not me. Its to nullify their liability. thx.
If you are a good Samaritan and are in possession of a deactivated cert that you believe is legit you can reach out to PSA. If the cert was deactivated due to theft they supposedly will reach out to the rightful owner.
Glad I could help
