Whats the worst the postman has done to you?

My PSA 10 Lt Surge’s Raichu came with a broken case. The picture doesn’t show it but theres a clear gap wheres its been lifted. The package has clear tire marks where the postman rode over the package to cause the damage.

So whats the worst damage the post office has done to you?

Damnnnn, that’s wild, did they give you an explanation or let the package do the talking?

I’ve only had one really bad experience (UK, Royal Mail) about… 7 or so years ago now, letter showed up but it was in some clear pocket with the Royal Mail logo on it, turned out the envelop inside had been set on fire somehow. I’ll never forget opening it up and a singed Holo Mew (Blackstar #9) falling out and a note saying something along the lines of: “Please let us know if your item has been damaged” like no sh*t son!

I gave the postman a 1.5k card once to be delivered, they lost it right there at the post office which i found out hours later. Took the full hit. they won’t even cover 1 cent as they view cards as a form of document.

I actually had a parcel with tracking go missing recently, which is a first in many years of selling for me, pretty tame compared to others perhaps lol

The people at the post office were really nice and sided with me. They filled out a dispute form and submitted it, but part of the process is that they keep the card.

Sounds like a few people have had hits from the lazy post man.

I’ve had quite a few this year =(

  1. AusPost lost a fully tracked item with signature on delivery.

  2. I’ve lost about 7 untracked items this year alone.

  3. PSA/USPS lost a submission of mine that was graded and sent back. Somewhere lost and nowhere to be found.

Postie marked my snap Gyarados as delivered, signed for it himself and left someone else’s packages at my door. Obviously fixed the mixup and I can happily say that the postie in question is sleeping with the Magikarps

I’ll categorize my hall of fame/shame (extra stuff just for entertainment):

Top 3 worst offending things that happened to me by the mail man:

  1. Folds 100% of all envelopes that says “FRAGILE DO NOT BEND”
  2. Gave me an expected delivery date that was signature required, so I had to stay at home. Package kept saying it was on route for delivery for two whole weeks.
  3. Drove to my place to hand deliver me the paper that said “We missed you” and that I had to pick it up at X location. The poker face on the postman and my shocked face was apparently “priceless” for my roommate.
Bonus: Tracking said my package was delivered when clearly the postman went for an afternoon break and came delivered it to me later in the evening.

Worst thing a company has done to my post office:
I ordered a supply of Ethernet cables and of course the company decided to ship them one by one, with signature required/tracking. Guess who drove a truck to my place 40 times? ALSO, since it was signature required, the postman CANNOT drop the cable into my mailbox; if I missed a shipment they have to drive back to redeliver it again.

Worst thing I have done to my post office:
My friend started working at my local post office and I thought it would be funny to ship a 40 pound cabinet that I was going to use for pick up at her work, as I knew she was in charge of handling packages at the post office. Of course the day I went for pick up, she took the day off so an 80 year old man had to help me with handing me off the package.

Top 3 things the post office has done:

  1. The entire post office nationwide decided to be troopers and work overtime on both Christmas eve and Christmas day to ensure all Christmas gifts would be delivered on time. Huge props to their effort in making families smile!
  2. Saw me walking back home and drove the truck back and waited for me to arrive to deliver my packages that would have otherwise be sent back to me.
  3. Went up 10 flights of stairs to deliver my 15 LBS desktop!

Best thing I have (indirectly) done to the post office:
I ordered a bunch of small electronics and somehow the order was bumped into priority shipping, and that ensured I would receive the packages on a specific date, which fell on a Saturday. Of course my order was once split into multiple packages but because of it being the weekend/the extra amount of packages, the postman made an extra $200+ for delivering my order, which was tiny and very easy to do. He was ecstatic!

My largest, most valuable PSA return was left in plain view on my porch without a knock or signature, which was required. I lived near a bike path too with high traffic. USPS signature requirement on a high value package should be the most important part of their service and they completely missed.

My mailman, for sign packages, use to walk up to my door as quietly as possible, and do the tiniest single knock…

If I wasn’t answering the door within 5 seconds of that knock, he would leave a “No one home to sign” note on my door.

Caught him doing it a couple times, called him out on it, Hasn’t happened since

Two days ago I had a card “delivered” to my mailbox, When I went to go pick up my card, my mailbox was empty. I was confused, but figured my card was put into a different box. Yesterday I went to go check my mail again to see if my card was in there. There was nothing in my mailbox once again. I was lucky however…The mailman was still placing mail into other boxes, so I approached him with my problem. He seemed confused, but I asked if he could check the mail box above and bellow mine to see if it was placed there by mistake. He agreed and wouldn’t you know it, my card was placed in the box right above mine. I was lucky I ran into the mailman when I did. I wonder if the person who received my card would of tracked me down, and return it to me if I didn’t fix the problem before they got to their mail?

Where do I begin.

Have had them deliver items a whole county away. Had to drive an hour and thankfully the person hadn’t opened the package and gave it to me. (The postmaster gave me their address also which I dont think was safe but whatever I wanted my box.)

Cant even count the amount of boxes that have arrived with massive holes punched in them(to be fair UPS and FedEx have done the same).

Marked items as “delivered” and they didnt even visit my home(showed postmaster the security cam footage). It would happen a couple of times a month, after showing them the video it magically never happened again.

My last mailman was this elderly man who thought he knew everything and would b*** and nit pick every single package I sent out. I just ignored him since I have been online selling for over 10+ years and never had a single package sent back. Thankfully he didnt last half a year and they replaced him with a hot chick so I’ve forgiven them with everything they put me through.

I had a temp young girl who didn’t attempt delivery. She had the brown slip already written out and dropped the slip on my door step, not even in the mailbox. One day I sat by the front window, watched her do it, walked down the street and confronted her. She said, “I was going to deliver the package at the end of the route”. After that conversation, I signed for it, the package had written on it, “attempted delivery, pick up at post office”…

She lasted a week and I never saw her again.

Man, so it’s not just me.

At least she didn’t have the balls (well technically she literally doesn’t have any) to hand you the card physically!

Multiple tracked international packages to the tune of low 5 figures (total) disappearing over the Atlantic in the past 2 years.
:sob:

I’ve taken 3 figure hits myself just money vanished no getting it back but luckily all the 4 figure + ones I was able to recoup the value through insurance or otherwise, but it still hurts knowing some of the things that have been lost.

In 25 years only had 2 losses of regular low value mail.

I did have a mailer I shipped go from
Nevada to California
California to Canada
Canada to Australia
Australia to California
California to Australia where it was delivered lol.

The Bermuda Triangle???

My mailman is actually pretty cool. He knew just by handling my packages I received that they were cards because it turns out he’s a sports card collector himself. So we shoot the shit about collecting once in a while. So he knows the struggle of the hobby and ebay and the postal service all too well and always takes care with my parcels.

I’ve had priority mail boxes literally opened by someone along the delivery chain. I’ll get a small flat rate box in the mail and there’ll be a finger sized/shaped hole through the side like someone was trying to peek in. Occasionally they’ll tear the top partially open and then unceremoniously dump the package in my mailbox.

This is why I always tape the seams.
