I have to answer this question at least 10 times a week, even though my listing’s descriptions explicitly state that I ship once a week on saturdays. Realllllyyyyyyy annnnoooyyyyinngggg.
I even state if they have a problem with it then dont purchase. No way in hell im trying to fit in a post office run during the work week lol. Point blank, its also kinda stupid to not read the description.
If its on ebay, shipping once a week is not acceptable. You can print the ebay label at home and drop the package off at a collection box on your way to or from work. If its through PayPal, same story, print the label at home.
NOPPPPPPEEEEEEEE. I have to be on site at 7am and i dont get home till 6pm some nights, hence why I changed shipping to once a week. I dont think its ridiculous if you are up front about it.
Its cheaper to buy the label directly through eBay instead of paying full price at the post office. I am very confused why you would step foot into a post office? Print the label at home, slap on a bubble mailer, and drop in a collection box on your commute to or from work. What would be the reason to wait til Saturday to ship an item if someone paid for it thr previous Sunday or Monday? Posting this in a collector’s forum isn’t going to yield positive responses.
You should always get an acceptance scan and receipt for your packages that you send out. I’ve learned this by having to refund a buyer $300 for an item that I dropped off at the USPS mailbox. The tracking never updated after I dropped it off. It just said shipping label created for a month. I opened up a missing mail claim which USPS closed after about eight months of not finding it. Just recently, my local USPS office taped the collection box shut and won’t let someone drop off a prepaid box without getting a receipt. I’ve also had to be refunded for purchases I’ve made because the same thing happened to another seller. He ended up having to refund over $2,000 worth of cards because he sent out around 10 packages about $200 each to different buyers and none of them were ever updated on tracking.
Shipping once a week is totally fine if you’re up front about it (which it sounds like OP is). If it wasn’t fine, eBay wouldn’t allow you to set up to 5 business day handling times on listings – but they do allow it; shipping once per week is a totally sanctioned practice and there’s nothing wrong with it.
A similar situation happened to me, only I left my packages at the counter and two of them ($300ish dollars combined) never got scanned or had any tracking updates so I had to refund my buyers.
I agree, shipping every other day as a private seller can be pretty stressful (depending on private circumstances like work, family etc.). As a buyer I’m usually okay with delayed shipping. I prefer it when people take their take to package and label correctly rather than rush it and get stuff mixed up (had this happened a few times already).
