WHY ME

I purchased 15-17 single cards from ebay last week
They came today.
however USPS fucked up and put them in the wrong apartment mailbox. They arent in my mailbox yet ebay says delivered 5 hours ago. Put in mailbox.
The front door reception cant do anything as they cant check . only USPS have the keys.
What do I do?
total of 13 envelopes with cards. 13 separate tracking numbers

Are the mailboxes all in one unit? Can you leave a note so whoever received them can contact you?
They are addressed to your name I would assume and I doubt whoever got them will open them. Theyā€™ll likely be returned to the front office or something, no?

Well USPS does have a good history of screwing up with deliveries.

Heres my WHY ME story:

I live in a AP(Armed Force Pacific) address so all mail that come to me, goes through the Chicago USPS processing station. I got my PSA cards worth 200+ USD graded by a middle man. So the cards came back to the middle mans place graded, and he ships them out immediately. (btw it was mid june when he sent the cards back to me).
So hereā€™s the thing, the middle man sent me the wrong tracking information. I mailed him THREE TIMES because he sent me a tracking that did not work. That bastard did not reply until two weeks. Oh and my cards still havenā€™t arrived at this point. (its mid July at this point)
So i FINALY get the tracking number and see where my graded cards are and they were delivered to an AE (Armed Force Europe) address. EUROPE I TELL YOU, EUROPE. I LIVE IN THE PACIFIC.

So I give the middle man a message saying that USPS messed up my order, please do something about it. And this S.O.B. replies saying ā€˜I cant do anythings since its USPSā€™s fault not mineā€™

You didnā€™t provide the correct tracking number and youā€™re telling me its not your fault?! *sigh*
Anyways I give USPS a call and told them that my package was sent to the wrong destination blah blah blahā€¦
So comes two weeks and my graded cards arrive to my possession.
I look at the box to check out where it was forwarded from and it said: ā€œFORWARDED FROM US CONSULATE ERBILā€
My PSA cards just went to Iraq.

It was mid August by the time my PSA cards arrivedā€¦

Whats the moral of this story?:

  • Donā€™t use middle men to get your cards graded. Well the one I used at least/ (I created my own account on PSA)
  • USPS will mess up your orders from time to time

There is nothing wrong with using a middle man, but that should be done with trustworthy and fair people. Your middleman was very rude and unfair on this situation and should have helped you straight away when you messaged him about the wrong tracking numberā€¦

They may not have been delivered at all. Iā€™ve had plenty of tracking numbers show as delivered, only for the packages to arrive several days later.

If it is the case that they were delivered to the wrong mailbox, hopefully the recipient is decent enough to deliver them to you or at least turn them in to the office. You could ask the office to send a mass email asking residents to keep an eye out. If they wonā€™t do that, I guess you could also put up posters in the mailroom like people do for lost pets, only for lost packages.

You said he didnā€™t give you the correct tracking number and he was slow to respond to you. Both bad. But what did he do wrong as far as the delivery and what could he have done about it once it was shipped?

thanks guys I guess Ill call USPS and if not wait a few days first

He could have AT LEAST contacted USPS and ask the whereabouts of the sent package. I shouldnā€™t be the one doing that. Its standard business procedures unless its stated within the agreement that ā€œIā€™m not taking responsibility when your item has been shippedā€.

Yes sure, there is nothing wrong with middle men. But as I have mention and so have you, this guy didnā€™t do anything at all to help me with my order. After I told him the stuff arrived and all he did was give a thumbs up. Didnā€™t even apologize. That S.O.Bā€¦

what you should do ( If you have the time ) Is wait around your mail area during the time your mail normally gets delivered, Or periodically walk over there to check if heā€™s there, and simply ask your mail man what happened and explain the situation. Iā€™m sure heā€™d defiantly remember 15-17 bubble mailers going into the same mailbox.

I have a horrific past with my mail lady at my apartment complex. Sheā€™s completely bent a flat rate envelope in half and shoved it in my small mail box, ā€œforgotā€ packages in her truck when they were supposed to be delivered that day, and literally crushed my boxes under other boxes while taking them into the mail roomā€¦

I solved it the only way I could. By killing her with kindness. I live in Phoenix ( A Very hot city ) So every time I saw her Iā€™d offer her a cold water and ask her how her day is going. Eventually the poor service stopped.

Because you dosed the water with arsenic and she was replaced with a better mailman?

Because being a mailman in the desert must suck. Their vehicles have NO A/C and in the summer it averages 115 degrees. So I assumed she was in the early stages of ā€œgoing postalā€ so I tried my best to simmer her down lol

That only works when you know you have a designated mailman right? We live in SF city Center and there are 6-7 post offices nearby. Dont know if the mailman would be he same everyday. I called UsPS , they said that the address provided on the packages had no apartment number. Yet when I ask the Ebay sellers, the address has always been the same cause they print out the label provided by eBay which Does contain the apartment number. A total of 13 first class envelopes go missing st the same time. So weird . Iā€™ve filed reports to USPS and hey said someone will get back to me in the next 3 days about these and maybe there is a chance they also get delivered today. No idea whatā€™s going on

Normally, and I say normally because its not 100%, but most of the time mailmen have a specific route they that deliver on. So most likely its the same mailman delivering to your complex daily. IMO catch him today / tmrw while he is there and ask!

Of course filing a claim and calling is the next best thing.

My problem is my USPS tracking havenā€™t even been updating past ā€œin-transit to destinationā€ so they never show if delivered or not even once they come. Plus I know I got a new mailman and heā€™s been putting them in wrong mailboxes because neighbours have been bringing my packages and some just go plain missing. But when they never update as ā€œdeliveredā€ I never know what the case is for my mail )))))))))))))))

Now Iā€™m not talking about any specific case. Just generally.

Iā€™ve tried contacting the usps a hundred times at customers requests and not once has it accomplished anything. I stopped years ago. They might say something to pacify you but there will be no action so why waste your time.

After a package is shipped nothing the seller can do or say will change anything. The usps handles HALF A BILLION ITEMS PER DAY and probably get millions of calls asking whereā€™s my package.

What I do as a buyer: I wait. I donā€™t stress out myself or anybody else. When the package arrives I message the seller and say thanks. Maybe one out of a thousand get lost. Iā€™m not stressing out a hundred times over one delayed mailer. If a package says delivered and I didnā€™t get it then itā€™s up to me to pursue.

I understand that most USPS customer service call centers have incompetent workers who will just say stuff to make you feel better. I was fortunate enough to have a customer service employee that actually helped me track down my stuff and get it forwarded to my mailbox.

Thanks for the tip. Iā€™ll be sure not to stress out too much on shipment next time.

Good job kami:)
