Will it be worth more in the future?

Hey guys, long time lorker. Today I went to my first card shop. I looked througho this big box of vintage cards they have and found a vintage krabby from fossil and a vintage ponyta from the set that has an R for the symbol. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I asked how much they were and he said they were $9. I was so excited but then I got home and it says they’re only wurth less than a dollar each. Is there a chance in the future they’ll be worth hundreds like others just like them? I really hope so because they were a lot of money.

Sorry you got fleeced! Everyone needs to learn though.

Maybe if you go back to the shop you can get your money back? I doubt any store would want you to feel ripped off

I got ripped off? Or do card shops cost more. Also will they be worth money in future? Should I sit on them?

I too am a long-time lorker and just the other day I went to my local card shop and saw this funky-looking card with an orange, fire-breathing dragon on it with a big “1” on the bottom left edge of the picture as well as a “4/102” on the bottom right corner of the card. They had it priced at $5 but that’s a bit over my budget so I passed on it. You gotta learn when to let 'em go, my friend. Not every card is a winner. I used my $5 on a Whopper–now that’s what I call a smart investment:)

I mean we’re not even considering condition, and if they’ve been in a box at a comic shop, I am going to guess they are moderate play/poor condition.

In other words yes, effectively worth nothing. They’ve been worth near nothing for years and will continue to be that way because they are not in demand and the supply is extremely high lol.

The only chance is if let’s say they were perfect gem mint condition, and you’d grade them at PSA and they both got a 10. Maybe in 10 years they’ll be worth $100 each if you’re lucky lol. Even then probably not because these are not low supply cards.

There is a fossil krabby that has a bigger than normal line through the fossil logo that is an error that is worth a bit but, the odds of yours being that is low. But you can check and compare to a google picture, just type in “error krabby fossil”.

The earth will be long swallowed by the sun before those cards ever rise past $1 each

Thank you I’ll check if it’s that one. Hopefully it is.

But I bought them for $9 and someone told me that the cards prices are what people are willing to pay for them. So what if their prices are actually above a dollar now?

I hope they didn’t rip me off I’m going to look more into it

In that brief moment they were worth $9 as thats what you paid for them lol!, however the trick is now you’d have to find someone else willing to pay $9 for cards worth 10 cents each.

What if I told you that my snickers bar goes for $100 and that’s what people buy it at? You going to believe me also because I told you? Lol.

Comic shops are notorious for overcharging. People rip each other off all the time, happens every second in every industry, job, hobby, everything.

Small price for a lesson, coulda been a lot worse than $9. Next time check ebay prior to buying! It will save you lots of $.

I’m going back to the card shop then. So they rippedme off? I shjould go back and mke them refund

I’m guessing you’re an adult, two adult parties both agreed to a price, you got what you paid for, make sure you’re more knowledgeable before you hand over money in the future

you should let it go because it’s $9

Unfortunately every now and then we get trolls such as this. Sadly, this account was an alt account of a currently registered and active member. I do not know what drives some people to impersonate uneducated new members and troll the forum, but suffice to say this activity is not tolerated and will be moderated accordingly.
