I’m new here and sorry if his has been asked before, but are these like comics where if a movie is scheduled or gets released it raises the prices on certain ones?
Or maybe I’m late to the party and the prices have increased already on a it of these.

Any effort that promotes the hobby should filter down and have a positive effect. It keeps the hobby from getting stagnant. “A rolling stone gathers no moss”

The movie is not based on any source material that is specific to the cards, unlike the situation in comic books.
You’ll either see a general increase overall, especially for the older WOTC stuff, if the movie inspires people to re-enter the hobby. The people with the most money will have grown up with the oldest stuff so if anything will be affected it will most evident in something like base set.
The problem is a re-entry event already occurred recently. Remember the most successful app of all time? The movie will probably bring back some collectors but if Pokemon Go wasn’t enough to bring someone back on not sure why this movie would be any different for them.
