Worth to buy this Charizard/Blastoise? Corners not great?

Hi guys!

I have two questions:

(1) I got the offer to buy a Base II Charizard, PSA 9.

Unfortunately, the corners (particularly the top left) are not that great, it looks like they are not as sharp as usual, and the top gap in the PSA case seems also relatively large (particularly obvious in the back image). I would appreciate your opinion if it is worth to get it or look for another copy with sharper corners?

In comparison to the Charizard card, this is the back of a Venusaur, which seems to be slightly longer and has a shorter gap in the case:

(2) I also got the offer for a Blastoise Base II, PSA 9. It looks perfect on the images, except for a white corner at the back (see photo). Is that still worth to get?

Buy the card raw in the same condition for 1/2 the price. Plenty of base set II packs were opened up last week so should be plenty of pack fresh holos swarming ebay.

If you dont like that copy, wait for another. Its a set card so there is many out there.

Those look good to me. PSA 9 will have flaws and those look pretty strong from the front. I own a complete Base Set 2 holo set and it’s a tough set to grade and has lots of factory defects. The corners can be cut weird on some WOTC cards, I’ve actually seen PSA 10 Base 2 Charizard with worse corners than that but with no whitening on the back corners. It all depends. Personally that doesn’t bother me and the centering is really nice on it too.

The good news is you can find tons of PSA 9 Base 2 Charizards and Blastoise. If you don’t like that one, just go for another.

Just the fact that you’re already obsessing over the corner is a bad sign… Just wait for another copy

Only you can determine if a card is “worth it” for you. But i’ll just say that if you have to convince yourself, or have others convince you to buy something, it’s probably a buy worth passing on.

I don’t think we can tell you if it’s worth it or not without knowing price. But assuming market price, it sounds to me you’re looking for a 10

I think your question is more suited for a place like this www.reddit.com/r/pkmntcgcollections/

When you are worrying about “gaps” in PSA cases, it’s a sign you are severely overthinking things.

Considering you are already upset with the corners before buying it I’d pass. It’ll only get more annoying in person and you’ll probably resent buying something that you already don’t really like

YOO Thurco from osrs?

For the OP. Everybody has mentioned and its very valid, if you don’t like the condition of the card ignore the grade. A wise man once said buy the card don’t buy the grade. You’ll have ton’s of possibilities to purchase this card, You don’t have to worry about FOMO with this guy, he’s everywhere.

haha yeah, hey

Buy what you like. Can never go wrong

Those look like normal 9s to me. If I was worried about small things like this and obsessed over every little imperfection it had, I feel I would never enjoy collecting.

I agree that they look like 9’s. Very easy to get that exact same pair of cards right out of a pack. I think many people believe most cards are pristine, but the reality is that most cards are 9-10 quality with the same minor issues you are worried about.

I will say that finding 9 quality base 2 cards may not be as easy as some others say. Most have scratches that do not show up in pictures. If you truly want a 9 grade and do not want to hunt then buy these copies.
