WOTC sealed blister packs

I’ve got some unlimited base, jungle, fossil WOTC blister packs I’ve been holding onto, and I’m debating on selling them to buy other Pokémon stuff. Wondering if I should hold onto them? will they go up over the next few years?

Nobody can ever predict the future of any current market, so it is never a cut and dry answer as if they will go up in value. Somebody please correct me if I’m wrong, but I can confidently say that the market is as strong as it has ever been with no real signs of slowing down. I’m also sure you know that there will never be any more sealed product produced by wotc…
I hope this clarifies your decision.
(Sorry if this was too evident)

Well said no_sym?

Unless the op needs the money, or finds something they have to have, I’d hang on to them.

The blister packs have already gone up a great deal in just the last couple years. I say sell or do not sell based on the desire to have the blister art vs other product.

The blisters are great, but if you do have multiples, then why not grab something else? It’s a lot of value in one pack just because it is a blister in my opinion.

Almost 2 years ago I picked up Shadowless blister packs for $150 a piece. Those have since doubled and Base Unlimited blisters are now going for $150. No one can accurately predict what the future will be for these though. If they could, everyone would buy them and there would be no supply left.

Personally, I think these are a lot cooler than normal packs because they make nice wall decorations and there is more to look at and read. A piece of history sealed up in a fine display. The poor mans booster box is what i consider them. That said, glue can deteriorate, people can re-glue cardboard and put a fake or opened pack inside, so there is a higher chance of fraud.

I considered selling mine, but there is no card I would value over the packs at the current market price, so I’m holding. If you have a card you’re eyeing that would make a good trade, go for it. If you need to make a few hundred bucks pretty quick, go for it. Otherwise, I’d hold.

I disagree with the easy fraud. I would counter that the blister is more fraud proof. It’s difficult enough to open them without ruining the blister. It would be very difficult to undo the plastic from the cardboard and not create serious signs of wear. Reattaching it to the previously opened blister would almost certainly show signs of tampering…

I bought and opened a base set blister pack a couple of months ago. One of the only ways I was able to get a base set booster pack at the time. Happy I pulled a holo Clefairy, but still, if I had another one I’d probably keep it seeled.

I really think the only way to have a tampered with blister is if the plastic cover naturally just became unglued and fell off without taking any of the paper with it. Then you can put in a weighed pack, etc in it. I don’t know how else it can be tampered with

IIRC, in one of @smpratte 's videos, he mentioned not wanting to collect blisters because they were easier to tamper with. He called the plastic overlay extra layer to hide the legitimacy of the pack itself.

Also, in a recent video, we saw Not_Zelda_Gilroy’s collection of blister packs and one of them no longer had the plastic because the glue deteriorated enough to fall off.

I love blisters and this would not deter me from buying more, but there are pros and cons to everything. As with everything in the hobby, know who to buy from and what to look out for and you’ll probably be alright.

That’s why I love the E-series blisters, they’re pretty much like a suit of armour for the pack, very hard to open and won’t degrade like other blisters
