Hey guys, I recently picked up a card in an older case, but after taking it home and looking at it more closely I couldn’t help but notice that there seems to be a lot of wrinkling that’s happening inside the case. At first, I thought this was caused by a sleeve, but upon closer inspection, you can see some strange imprints (dents?) on the inner border that’s normally very flat.
Some weird plastic that’s loose/being pulled on causing wrinkling:
Happening on the top part of the card as well:
Inner border of case having some sort of impression/denting:
I guess what really concerns me is the 3rd image where it seems like the actual case has some sort of damage in it?
I’m not going to crack the case open, but I’m really considering sending this back to PSA to get recased as I just can’t unnotice the wrinkling effect all over the card. Before I do that though, I’d like to know what’s causing this as it’s quite a mystery to me.
@burpies, wow thats a really low cert number there! Personally, and im sorry about this, but i just dont know much about these older cases to weigh in any input, but Id like to ask is there a sleeve around the case? From what i see here it looks as if theres a plastic sleeve on the inside of it, which i thought only BGS did, but i just dont have enough experience here. Would love to hear what others think about this though!
I purchased some certs a while back that also start with 05 and mine look exactly the same way. I just figure that that was just the way they did it back then and I kind of like it because it has a time capsule feeling to it.
The first two pictures have no sleeve around the case while the third picture does since that’s when I first noticed the imprints inside the case. But yeah, I was also curious about the interior sleeving so I decided to search around YT for some case cracking videos. I did notice that YGO graded cards had a sleeve, but I couldn’t find any Pokemon PSA slabs that did which kinda fueled my curiosity.
Ahh, it’s good to know it’s not just this particular case then! Also your comment is making me second guess re-casing it. HMM.
@burpies, If you do not like it you can send the card in through Ludkins and have it recased. It will just take a while… like 6 months I bet. That’s PSA for ya though.
